PETER AND THE VAMPIRES (Volume One) [NOOK Book]

Great series

This is a four volume series. Every story has great puns in it, and is a new great twist to old monsters we are familiar with and new ones. I love this series and it has been renamed the peter and the monsters series and it has different volumes through out it. So far, I have read the first 13 stories and they are always getting better. I love how it goes straight to the point and tells so much in so little.
This series is great for people with ADD/ADHD as well. It is written in a similar format to that of James Patterson. It is like the original goosebumps series in context, but has more humor and is better all around. The set still might frighten little kids, but they generally have a great ending. They are more for middle school to any adult that loves to be taken back to original monster series with new great twists. I would highly recommend this set for anyone, but be ready to be able to not be able to put it down. I finished the entire first volume in one setting, and then I followed with the second and third in a similar pattern. It is a quick and easy read.

Great cook to read with older kids.

My son and I read this every night. He simply loves it! He's never liked reading but, now he looks forward to it. This book has it all suspense, action, and comedy. I love the dialogues. My son and I sometimes have to take breaks in between because we can't stop laughing!

Seems to b geared toward the younger reader, but still enjoyable for adults. Dill makes u laugh. Try it, i think u will enjoy

this book was amazing!i'm 43 years old and i know the main characters are 9 years old,but i read this book in one day imaging my husband and his brother doing the things in this book.can't wait for the next book.if you like Harry Potter,give this a try.I also enjoyed that the author used real words instead of made up words that leave you scratching your head on how to pronounce them.

A great read for all ages

The cover looks sort of ominous, doesn't it? I loved reading this book. It's got everything you could want, lovely, lovely characters, humor, great writing, some dead things that go bump in the night(or try to find their Undead Prince Charming.) - a lot of fun. Taking place in a picturesque environment, the plot is something of an intriguing web that will just weave itself around you, subtle but strong, and you'll find yourself irrevocably immersed. Peter's family life is not fun at all; the struggles his mother goes through are very touching, and I couldn't help but wonder what would come of their little family. When they move in with Peter's grandfather, in a big scary house, the real adventure begins. Peter makes a new friend very quick, Dill the awesome, and together they start exploring a mysterious new world with that sense and wonder of adventure that most of us shed as we grow older. All kinds of oddities go on in their little town. What I loved most, and a lot, were the characters. I loved pretty much each and every one of them, in fact. Darren Pillsbury is greatly talented in building fabulous characters. Peter Normal, our brave little hero, is absolutely adorable; he's had it tough, but he has great spirit. His new friend, Dill, is equally as adorable, or perhaps even more, he's that kind of very fun kid that says strange things, thinks fast and makes everything into a great adventure. They form a great dynamic duo, adventuring and discovering the world. The fresh curiosity, the vibrant spirit, the unmistakable cuteness kids have are all there. The attention-seeking, absurd little quirky girl is there as well, Peter's sister Beth is quite amusing. I could just picture her, walking around in her armor-swimming suit. The one I liked most of all as a character though was Peter's grandfather. He's the grumpy, sort of stern, proper sort of man, that acts tough enough but is quite a dear deep down, and I find his interaction with everyone, especially the kids very entertaining. It's been a long, long while since I've had this much fun reading a novel; I felt like a kid, and I loved every minute of it. You could call it sort of dark-ish, maybe, but to me it doesn't seem too much so. It's not really scary, but it will be a lovely little scary story for kids above 13 or so. I do recommend this to anyone who wants to feel very young again, and this is a great read for all ages alike. Go ahead, read it, I'm absolutely sure you'll love it just as much as I did!

yes its a childrens book. however it deals with realish issues,responisibly and such.on the other hand its a adventue book .if you like having that one person to root for or to cringe and squirm for when s/he is dangling over peril i recomend this book.for mothers and fathers your kids see much worse on tv ,listen to much worse on the news and radio .i bet you will be using your childs nook more then them. the book is 900 some pages

CLEVER Boy

I've been reading these stories since when they were posted online as a blog. The main characters are well-done: they don't have any superpowers to help them fight against the seemingly invincible monsters they face. My favorite part is seeing the clever, sometimes wacky ways Peter finally defeats them. Honestly, Peter feels too mature for a ten year-old, but you know, in real life, real ten year-olds can surprise you sometimes, too. He is just within the realm of possibility, and is a more interesting character for it. Wise-cracking Dill is mostly side-kick material, but he does that very well. He is a more flawed character, whose best qualities are loyalty and unintended humor. Buy this book. You won't regret it!
