Publishers Weekly
The second board book in the Petit Connoisseur series, Fashion by Karen Salmansohn, illus. by Brian Stauffer, once again combines pith and wit. The "spring collection" spread, for instance, shows a polka-dotted Dachshund toy on wheels that gets its length from a slinky-like torso, while "catwalk" shows two chic felines touting a willowy red scarf and pea-green purse atop the points of a picket fence. Likely more for fashionistas than their offspring, but such fun. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
Part of the "Petit Connoisseur" series, this book about fashion is definitely outre. You would need to know about the industry to appreciate the humor—spring collection is not difficult but "catwalk" and "trunk show" may not be familiar to a lot of parents. There is humor, but again it is for insiders of the fashion industry. So if you are not part of the fashion scene and you want your little ones to learn the language of the trade, then go for it. I see this board book as more of a gag gift among adults in the world of high fashion. 2005, Tricycle, Ages 3 to 5.
