The recipes in this book are delicious! We have tried many of them and everyone has turned out great! Some of these recipes have even become our new family favorites. Our very favorite is probably the frosted apple spice muffins (p 15); we frost them if we want them to be more like a cupcake/dessert and we leave them plain if we want them as a snack or with our breakfast - they are so good that you don’t even have to frost them if you don’t feel like it. However we always double or triple the recipes because we always give some away. However it is nice that the treats are small (hence the name Petite Treats) so I don’t eat too many! I like that the recipes are simple and easy to follow. The book is only 6 inches by 6 inches and almost every recipe only takes up 1-2 pages. There are a few ingredients that I don’t have stocked in my kitchen (like whiskey, green tea, expresso powder, and lavender) but for the most part I have all the ingredients already on hand. Some of the recipes include “sweet tips” and these are really helpful. Most of the recipes are made quickly and easily. I also like that there are some pictures of the finished product. I hate it when recipe books don’t have pictures! Also I like that I have been able to substitute some ingredients for more “healthy” ingredients such as substituting all or part of the sugar for honey, all or part of the white flour for whole wheat, etc). There is even a vegan donut recipe! The book is divided into chapters including: Morning Bites, Sweet Snacks, Classic Bites, Fancy Stuff and Frosting Fillings Toppings and Drizzles. Some of our favorites out of each category are (Morning Bites) Frosted Apple Spice Muffins, Morning Glory Muffins, and Cranberry and Orange Rolls; (Sweet Snacks) Mrs. Randall’s Brownies, Boston Cream Yippie Pies, and Glazed Chocolate Donuts; (Classic Bites) Apple Pie Cookies, Angel Food Cake with Vanilla strawberries, and Cookies ‘n’ Cream Cake (Fancy Stuff) The Strawberry Cream Éclairs are amazing!! (Frostings, Fillings, Toppings, and Drizzles) We’ve made all of these and they are all wonderful! The only thing I think needs improved is that the pages are falling out of my book. It doesn’t seem like they are bound together very well (but maybe I just got a bad one). However, I would still recommend this book even with that flaw. Overall this is an excellent cookbook and we have really enjoyed making and eating the recipes. I received this book in exchange for my opinions to facilitate my review. This did not affect my opinions. All opinions are my own (and my family’s).
