Overview

For more than 800 years scholars have pointed to the dark augury having to do with “the last Pope.” The prophecy, taken from St. Malachy’s “Prophecy of the Popes,” is among a list of verses predicting each of the Roman Catholic popes from Pope Celestine II to the final pope, “Peter the Roman,” whose reign would end in the destruction of Rome. First published in 1595, the prophecies were attributed to St. Malachy by a Benedictine historian named Arnold de Wyon, who recorded them in his book, Lignum Vitæ. Tradition holds that Malachy had been called to Rome by Pope Innocent II, and while there, he experienced the vision of the future popes, including the last one, which he wrote down in a series of cryptic phrases. According to the prophecy, the next pope (following Benedict XVI) is to be the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman. The idea by some Catholics that the next pope on St. Malachy’s list heralds the beginning of “great apostasy” followed by “great tribulation” sets the stage for the imminent unfolding of apocalyptic events, something many non-Catholics would agree with. This would give rise to a false prophet, who according to the book of Revelation leads the world’s religious communities into embracing a political leader known as Antichrist. In recent history, several Catholic priests—some deceased now—have been surprisingly outspoken on what they have seen as this inevitable danger rising from within the ranks of Catholicism as a result of secret satanic “Illuminati-Masonic” influences. These priests claim secret knowledge of an multinational power elite and occult hierarchy operating behind supranatural and global political machinations. Among this secret society are sinister false Catholic infiltrators who understand that, as the Roman Catholic Church represents one-sixth of the world’s population and over half of all Christians, it is indispensable for controlling future global elements in matters of church and state and the fulfillment of a diabolical plan they call “Alta Vendetta,” which is set to assume control of the papacy and to help the False Prophet deceive the world’s faithful (including Catholics) into worshipping Antichrist. As stated by Dr. Michael Lake on the front cover, Catholic and evangelical scholars have dreaded this moment for centuries. Unfortunately, as readers will learn, time for avoiding Peter the Roman just ran out.

This book is a bombshell. It is a scathing and unrelenting survey of 2000 years of Christian history with emphasis on the Roman church being a system child of Babylonian culture in many of it's beliefs. The authors agree many genuine believers are in the system, but the system is moving toward an apocyalyptic crisis. This crisis will be headed up by an endtime AntiChrist personality who is a fulfillemnt of St Malachy's 11th Century prophecy. It is not a pretty picture that is painted and if it were not for the voluminous footnotes documenting much of the conclusions I would have put the book away. What I got out of this book is that no matter what Christian believer you are, your personal beliefs need to be carefully evaluated as to their origin and your faith needs to be in God alone.

It is as if the 'Keys to the Vatican' have been passed from Malachy Morgair to Malachi Martin to Tom Horn and Cris Putnam. Petrus Romanus: The Final Pope is Here, is unquestionably a more comprehensive inquisition into the Vatican than the Inquisition itself. They have unraveled quantum entanglement and distilled it to Occam's Razor. While St. Malachy's prophecies are themselves prodigious, Petrus Romanus as the final harbinger carries with it the foreboding implication that we have decidedly reached the pinnacle and are now poised for the consummation of human history as we know it.

It started out OK, and they accurately predicted Pope Benedict would leave the Papacy and he has ( not in their timeline but close enough it got my interest right away) It started as an intellectual study of an ancient prophesy, but after a few chapters I was growing cold with disgust. It turned into venomous trash. The authors obviously despise everything Catholic, especially the papacy. It's one thing to criticize the Roman Catholic Church and all it's faults, but they are so full of hate it's deeply disturbing. I can't even finish it and truly regret spending the money for this horrid book. I don't care what these guys think. They intended to prove the papacy is the antichrist...well it certainly got me thinking the exact opposite. Poor hateful souls.

To Whomever wrote this comment... "And I say to thee:  Thou art Peter and on this rock I will build my church..." If you would read the Bible instead of basing your salvation on what mere men have told you, you would know that the Church was built on what Peter said not on Peter himself... as he denied Christ 3 times.

The information was extremely well researched, in some cases just a bit too wordy.  Written somewhat like a text book. You almost need a college education to follow some of the vocabulary, but the information was worth the time  spent looking up some of the vocabulary.  Would recommend it to anyone researching what is happening in the world today and trying to understand the historical background.

Everyone reviewing this book is probably a Catholic. No one likes to here they have been in a pagan religion their whole life. Open your eyes and your bible and you will see that the Roman Catholics do everything contrary to scripture. The catholics admit to changing the 10 commandments, Call no man on earth your Father. They do this. Now is your chance to come out of her and truly be saved.

WOW! I write this on March 2nd, 2013...Pope Benadict has retired, and we will soon have a new Pope. Prophacy tells us (and info in this book) that the last Pope will be called "Peter The Roman..." I find it very courious that one of the men being considered for Pope...Peter Turkson...goes by the nickname: "PETER THE ROMAN." Keep an eye on world events, especially in Israel, and read this book!

I wish I had investigated this book more before i bought it because it is antiCatholic. I used to hear all this stuff when I was Baptist but couldnt find any scriptural evidence for it in the bible I dont want some man made interpretation of scripture, i wamt what the bible actually says. No where in the bible does it say the Pope is the anti Christ and the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon. Purchasing this book was a waste of my money.

And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matt. 16:18 Catholics trust the words of Our Lord an Our God, Jesus Christ, not the words of some anti-Christian profit mongers.

It is interesting to read this book 3 years after the fact; seeing just how much fearful speculation did not come to pass. Francis is the Pope now. And if I remember correctly he was not on any of the lists of speculation contained in this book. If there is another Pope after Francis would that make the prophecies about the final Pope false prophecies? What I also find interesting is that there seems to be a lot of relying on the Secrets of Fatima and Marian apparirions to back up a lot of what was speculated upon. Anyway today it appears as if none or not much of anything that was speculated upon in this book came to pass in the timeframe implied.

This book has NO resemblance to anything produced by a knowledgeable and reputable commentator like Malachi Martin, who would instantly protest the use of his name to promote this book (luckily for these authors, he died some years ago). It's a collection of warmed-over anti-Catholic "Whore of Babylon" propaganda and extremely juvenile and superficial fundamentalist theology. I'm very disturbed that Barnes & Noble would characterize this screed as a serious work. If I could give this schlock zero stars, I would.
