Meet the Author

Mike Artell is the author and illustrator of several books for children, parents, and teachers covering such varied topics as young authorship, parties, outer space, bloodsucking bugs, and weather. His works also include joke books, riddle books, tongue twister books, and several cartooning books.
Mike’s children’s picture book, Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood, was chosen the 2004 Louisiana Young Reader’s Choice book by the schoolchildren of Louisiana. Among its other awards, Petite Rouge was ranked fifth among the Top 76 books for 2001 by the American Bookseller’s Association, was named an Honor Book by Storytelling World Magazine, and was recognized as a Notable Children’s Trade Book by the National Society for the Social Studies & the Children’s Book Council.
Mike has hosted his own television cartooning show and travels the country each year visiting schools and sharing his techniques for thinking, writing, and drawing more creatively with students and teachers.
