Peyton Manning was destined to play quarterback in the National Football League. After all, his father was Archie Manning, a two-time Pro Bowl quarterback for the New Orleans Saints in the 1970s. From an early age, Peyton's life revolved around football, and he benefited from his father's tutelage. By his senior year of high school, he was being recruited by the top college football teams in the United States. Eventually, he chose the University of Tennessee, where he became an All-American. In 1998, the Indianapolis Colts selected him as the number-one overall pick in the NFL draft. Since then, Manning has established himself as one of the league's all-time greats. He has been selected to eight Pro Bowl teams and has set several NFL records. In 2006, he led the Colts to the franchise's first Super Bowl victory since 1970. Manning is also an all-pro off the field. In 2005, he was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award winner for his outstanding work in the community and on the playing field. Through his charitable organization, the PeyBack Foundation, he has helped raise millions of dollars for disadvantaged children.

The book that I am reading is called Football Superstars: Peyton Manning by Samuel Willard Crompton. I thought the book is amazing and it truly gives you an idea of what Peyton goes through before a big game, and just what kind of person he really is, underneath that Colts jersey. Peyton is the quarterback for the NFL team the Indianapolis Colts. After high school he played for Tennessee (The rival College that his dad played), which of course gave him a tough time because his father, (all time quarterback for New Orleans: Archie Manning) attended Ole Miss. Peyton had a wonderful start out for his career at Tennessee. Then after playing for Tennessee Peyton was selected by the Indianapolis Colts with the number one overall pick of the 1998 NFL draft, and so started his career with the Indianapolis Colts! When Peyton became the leader of the team the team started to have the best season record (14-5) since 1968. I myself have gone through what Peyton goes through when he loses a game. I played basketball so it's the same concept, & its tough and it feels like it was your entire fault because you feel like you could've done more to help the team but it is a team that loses, not an individual player. My Favorite part of the book was when Peyton gets nominated for The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, because I admire Walter too, and I thought he was an AMAZING player as well. I recommend this book to everyone! Even if you're not into football, or sports aren't your thing, it's perfect for anyone! I hope you can get a chance to read this book, because it's really inspiring and full of statistics and just his whole life and how he became so famous.
