Krissi Dallas has hit the road running with her debut novel, Phantom Island: Wind. It instantly found its way to the number one selling spot at Authorhouse.com as the word-of-mouth buzz about this page-turner spread like wild fire surrounding the novel's release. The novel is Young Adult fiction; it's full of drama, adventure, suspense, and romance. As a vested seventh and eighth grade teacher and the wife of a youth pastor, YA fantasy-fiction is something Krissi Dallas is an expert on and has a passion for. Her love and affinity for her students, as well as the openly autobiographical nature of much of the book, have allowed Dallas to "open a vein," and write from the depths of who she is, from the heart. This deep connection transfers itself to the reader. I found myself desperately curious, committed and concerned about the characters. I don't think I have ever read a book this size this quickly---not even any of the Harry Potter series.

You know how you can tell when you're reading really good fantasy-fiction? When you can't tell. If you ever find yourself questioning the reality the author's created, it isn't good fantasy-fiction. While reading Wind I never once caught myself questioning the Island. I was completely engrossed.

Wind is well written. Dallas has a captivating command of detail. Good literature is good literature, regardless of the target audience. Phantom Island isn't just for teenagers; it's for anyone who hasn't forgotten how to read -- how to imagine and empathize and create. The plot and character development; the intrigue, the tension, the romance, the journey, the discovery; every thing about the Island kept me turning pages when I should have been sleeping.

Wind is the first book in the Phantom Island series. Water, is scheduled to come out Summer 2010. It's always nice to have something to look forward to, especially the "small" things; I can't wait to find out what happens next. For more about Phantom Island visit http://www.krissidallas.com/.

    A must read!

Although this book was meant for young adults, I was very excited to read it. I thought it started a bit slow but definitely made up for it! I could NOT put it down. This book has a little of everything from excitement, imagination, mystery and romance. Not only am I strongly recommending this novel but I am waiting not so patiently for "Water" to be released. Thank you Krissi Dallas for allowing us to enter the portal!

    For Fans of Teen Fiction!

Since I teach 7th grade, I love to read YAF. Sometimes this gets very stale, but Phantom Island: Wind was definitely a breath of fresh air. The writing was well-thought out, the plot was full of twist & turns and the main character was complicated without being annoying.

Whitnee Terradora has had a life full of complication since the mysterious disappearance of her father over 6 years ago. She returns to Camp Fusion, a camp for troubled kids, only this time as a counselor instead of a camper. There she meets Amelia, a spoiled camper who Whitnee can't seem to reach. She also begins to have relationship issues with one of her close friends, Caleb. Throughout all of this emotional turmoil, Whitnee begins having nightmares about her father and then begins seeing visions of him on the other side (forbidden side!) of the Frio River. Whitnee decides to take matters into her own hands and find out why she keeps seeing her father and just what is on the other side of the river.

Phantom Island: Wind will keep you glued to the book with action sequences, twist & turns and romance. Even with the romance I still recommend this book to my male students. It's a great book from a debut author and I'm glad I got my hands on it. Being the 1st in a series of four books, there are many more great things to come from Krissi Dallas!

    Captivating - MUST READ!!!!

Phantom Island is an intoxicating page turner of a book. Once you start it, you cannot put it down. Written for YA readers, Phantom Island is a crowd pleaser for all ages. The author has a good balance of emotions. love, laughter, fantasy, action & adventure. You will find yourself becoming involved with the characters. Basically you open the cover and walk into a non-stop adventure. This is a story that will take you into it and not let you go. I wanted more the moment I finished. I highly recommend this book to become a movie.

    This book is amazing!

From the beginning Phantom Island indulges its reader with the drama of a teenage girl, Whitnee, trying to find who she really is along with the help of her two best friends Caleb and Morgan. The three best friends start their adventure at the summer camp where they met, but soon learn that this camp is more than just a home away from home. After a mysterious phenomenon, the three friends, along with two other campers, find themselves on the White Island. The five of them are immediately swept into the cultures of the Island's four main tribes. As the friends attempt to get back to the "Mainland" they encounter many obstacles and learn more than they thought they knew about each other along the way. The mystery in this story keeps you thinking and second guessing who should and should not be trusted. Throughout the novel I found myself contemplating the motives of each character's actions with Whitnee. Overall this book was very intriguing. If you are into a balanced mixture of friendship, romance, mystery, and adventure, then you should definitely pick up this book. There is a little bit of something for everyone in Phantom Island.

Great fiction novel. Highly recommend it for all ages.

Although I am not the "target-audience", I really enjoyed Phantom Island. It was a really interesting story (with all the right elements - magic, humor, good character development, etc). I was actually up until 2am finishing it. It's one of those epic series that clearly has a sequel coming.

    Easy Read for all ages

You will have a hard time putting this book down! It has just the right mix of action and romance, and you easily relate to all the characters. After reading this I was so jealous that there wasn't a magical island for me to escape to. Cant wait for book 2!

    Fun, fantastic book!

This book was so fun to read-being from Texas and having been to a camp on the Frio River (location for the book's plot), I could literally picture where the characters were! I couldn't put it down and have shared it with friends AND my son's babysitter! Great for adults and teens. I absolutely can't wait for the sequel!

I just finished reading probably one of the best books that I have read in the last few years.

Whitnee's father mysteriously disappeared six years ago. Whitnee and her mother have missed him and refuse to think he is dead.

The first summer after he went missing, Whitnee went to a summer camp, Camp Fusion, where there were counselors who dealt with emotional problems. There she met Morgan and Caleb, who become her two best friends. Now they are back at camp, but this time as mentors to other kids who need their help.

While at camp, Whitnee accidentally finds herself, along with her friends, transported to another world. There she finds that she may be the savior of their world. She develops powers over wind, fire, water, and the earth.

They meet many interesting people and find a connection between the island and her father. There are many adventures, twists, and turns. There is also a wonderful romance. She and her friends grow in many ways as they try to find their way home.

PHANTOM ISLAND: WIND was extremely well-written, which was good because it is a very long book. Ms. Dallas's characters have a lot of depth and are very real. The descriptions of the island they went to was very detailed, so that you felt that you were there with them.

There are only a few other novels where I wanted to actually be in their world. I was captured from the very first page. I am so excited to read the next installment in 2010!

If you need a really good read, pick up Phantom Island: Wind. Seriously 5 stars!

Action. Adventure. Mystery. Romance. If any of those interest you, then you need to read Phantom Island: Wind! From the very beginning you are swept into the story as the main protagonist, Whitnee, finds herself working at a camp for troubled pre-teens with her two best friends, Caleb and Morgan. When one rule is broken at camp, the three teenagers, along with two other campers, find themselves transported to the beautiful and mysterious White Island. When greeted by the gorgeous native Gabriel, Whitnee and her friends are thrown into an adventure that starts unveiling secrets about Whitnee that no one ever knew! The characters are believable, the adventure is awesome, and let's face it, EVERYONE is a sucker for a little bit of romance!

All in all, it's definitely a page turner and you won't be able to put it down! I highly suggest it to anyone who loves reading and is into the "magic thing". Keep a look out for the book's sequel, Water, to be out sometime in 2010. For more information visit www.krissidallas.com. Also, visit the official fansite: www.thezephyra.blogspot.com

    Until then, happy reading!

MUST READ ANY AGE, CHARACTERS ARE AWESOME AND STORY LINE IS REALISTIC AND EXCITING THIS IS A GREAT BOOK FOR ALL AGES AND ESPECIALLY A BOOK CLUB, TRIBAL ISSUES PROVIDE LOTS OF CONVERSATION.

I really enjoyed reading this book. A decent novel for all ages, but still it provided a plot, thrills, surprises, action and adventure with lots of romance and friction. The story begins at a Camp (all of us have been to camp, therefore we can relate) and expounds on true loyalty and friendship right from the beginning. When the campers find themselves on an uncharted island by accident or fate? the adventure begins. I cannot wait for the sequel WATER...Which tribe are you, Wind, Water, Fire or Earth, so interesting to see what your tribe is capable of doing with their element. Enjoy!

This book is a definite attention grabber. The characters are developed quickly, and you are immediately engulfed in the intriguing plot.
