Editorial Reviews

Rachael at Night Owl Paranormal
Phantom Pleasures reads like a wonderful ghost story with lots of suspense, romance and twists to keep readers entertained. The writing was beautifully vivid as I could picture the haunted castle and all the little details inside of it. Phantom Pleasures exceeded my expectations and I was very pleasantly surprised on what a wonderful novel this turned out to be.

Meet the Author

New York Times bestselling author Julie Leto actually hates hearing ghost stories. . .mainly because she’s a self-avowed fraidy cat. On ghost tours, she is known to wear the rosary bracelet that she was given as a child (which was blessed by the Pope, according to her grandmother) and to announce loudly that any ghosts in the vicinity should show themselves only to the other people on the tour and not her, because she’s just there to hear about the history.

She does, however, love writing ghost stories, especially when they are super-sexy, mysterious and fun. The Phantom series was conceived of very early in her career, but she sold the revised idea, along with two sequels, fourteen years after Damon Forsyth, the hero of Phantom Pleasures, first stormed out of her brain. Now that she has the rights back to the series, she hopes to write the second trilogy very soon and answer the final questions about the gypsy curse that plagues the Forsyth family.

Julie lives on the west coast of Florida with her daughter, a spoiled dachshund, a haughty lynx-point Siamese and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance. Readers can find her at www.julieleto.com, on Facebook and as @JulieLeto on Twitter.

I really love a good mystery that includes cursed objects and phantoms come to life! This book seemed to be packed full of mystery from first page to the last page. This book was full of lore and intrigue which fascinate me on many levels. I thought the author did an excellent job of crafting such a clever story chalked full of mystery, suspense, and hot men. I will definitely continue to read more of this series.

The sketchy ratings made me hesitate to buy this book, but in
desperationg for something new, I went ahead. Boy am I glad I did!
Based on the synopsis, I expectedly a lot of dry history in parts of the
books. I should have known better. Julie Leto has a fantastic way with
words. The book moves so quickly you almost expect to get dizzy, but
you can't quit reading. If anything about the synopsis appeals to you,
do NOT hesitate to start reading.

This is a terrific paranormal romance

In 1747 in Valoren just outside Germany, the Forsyth brothers rush to a Gypsy encampment to save their sister Sarina from ruin. Instead of rescuing her, they are turned into statues by some magical curse.------------ Over two and half centuries later, affluent businesswoman Alexa Chandler learns that her late father left her Isla de Fantasmas, an island off Florida, that includes a partially reconstructed German castle in which the stones were transported from Europe. She thinks she can convert the place into an exclusive hotel. However, Alexa soon learns of a phantom that haunts her castle. Alexa asks her best friend, paranormal researcher Catalina Reyes to help the ghost who becomes physical at night. Damon Forsythe is fascinated by the independent Alexa, He feels with her and Cat helping him, he might escape the curse, but assumes the cost is no longer interacting with his beloved Alexa.------------ This is a terrific opening paranormal romance that for the most part occurs in 2008, but also details what happened in 1747. The story line is fast-paced from the onset, but accelerates once the female developer realizes that when the castle was moved from Germany to the Florida isle a ghost was brought with it. A secondary plot involving Cat and a Romany scholar Ben augment this pleasurable tale starring the phantom of the castle and the woman whose love gives him hope.--------- Harriet Klausner
