Overview

Kathryn Adams is a veterinarian with a cause—she risks her financial security to help local cat rescue groups. When a stray cat, black with one green eye and one blue, meows at her door one night, Kathryn’s view of rescues changes quickly.

In Ancient Egypt, the throne is passed to the firstborn son, and when the sun rises over his father’s fresh tomb, Seti will claim his crown. He doesn’t want to rule, but the only other option is death, and his half-brother is happy to oblige.

Seti and Kathryn each need fulfillment in their lives. Through the help of Madame Eve and an ancient Egyptian goddess, they find peace in each other’s arms for one night. At dawn, Bast will return to ferry them back to their responsibilities unless they can rescue each other.

Sometimes reading a book goes hand in hand with specific atmosphere. Like, a really scary story is best read curled up under a blanket, with a raging storm outside. Or in this case... a nice glass of wine, some lit candles, maybe break open your favorite chocolate bar (in my case, Lindt's Sea Salt Dark Chocolate)... and begin.

This is not my first '1Night Stand' novella, so I expected quick development. Yet the author was quite good at exploring Kathryn's and Seti's characters that I found them believable. Though, it is not surprising to me, that their immediate connection did not ring as natural, as their individual lives were. Not to mention that they are both from very different eras, and their meeting is definitely out of the norm, of a magical nature of course.

But though I did have issues with the believability of the situation, especially the ending of their story, it was no less enjoyable. After all, I take these short stories as escapes and fantasies. Nothing is impossible in a fantasy. So why not?

Why not take on a one night stand with a complete stranger arranged by one of your friends?

Why not time travel centuries back in time for this one night stand?

Why not fall in love with Egypt's appointed Pharaoh during your first night together?

Why not enjoy an hour of an aromatic, full bodied glass (or glasses) of wine, your favorite chocolate bar, and "Pharaoh, Mine" where one woman's story has all of the above? It was an hour well spent for me.

*I received a eBook copy of this book for free to review from the author; this in no way influenced my review, all opinions are 100% honest and my own.*
