I purchased "Pharm Phlash! Pharmacology Flash Cards" to help me study/review pharmacolocy but found that I don't use them as often as I thought I would. These cards do not replace a Drug Guide book for nurses. The following is a list of what is on the flash cards: Therapeutic/Pharmacologic Class, Indications, Action, Adverse Reactions/Side Effects, Nursing Implications, and some Pt Education. A couple of things that the flash cards are missing include: pregnancy category and/or schedule class, time/action profile (route, onset, peak, and duration), half-life, IV administration, pharmacokinetics, etc.

I bought this set because it was recommended by the instructor. It is not comprehensive like a medical drug book (ie: FA Davis drug book), but it has the most important material a beginning student nurse would need. Before clinical I would pull out the drug cards that were pertinent to my patient and keep them in my pocket. This allowed for quick review of how the medication worked and what assessment data and side affects I needed to be aware of before administering the medications. They were very helpful for me in my first semester.

I am a nursing student and these are great to carry in your pocket during clinical. I use them all the time!!! It saves me the time and hassle from having to make my own;-)

This product is probably good for nurses, but for pharmacists or medical doctors is definitely not a good choice.

By reading the other reviews it seems my nursing school is very different from other schools around the country! Out of the hundreds of medications we have to know in second quarter alone, maybe 1 out of 10 is included in this set. I spend just as much time making my own flash cards as I did before and now I'm down $20! Many of these flash card sets I've looked at are lacking a lot of drugs. Do some good searching before purchasing a set.

wish this was a required buy at the start of nursing school. I'm in my second quarter and they would have saved me tons of time, from the start. Almost a must buy for exlempar meds!
