Pharmacogenomics: Methods and Protocols
Much of the research in pharmacogenomics aims at providing drugs made to match individuals' genetic makeup for greater efficacy and safety. In this collection of 15 papers contributors describe their work in both the newest and most common technologies, providing readily reproducible methods for assessing a polymorphism, evaluating genotyping platforms, and managing information. Along with a history and overview of pharmacogenomics, topics of individual papers include transfection assays with allele-specific constructs, a snapshot of the allele-specific variation in human gene expression, oligo microarrays as analysis tools, genotyping methods selection, high- performance liquid chromotography, pyrosequencing of clinically relevant polymorphisms, advanced mass spectrometry, florescence-based fragment size analysis, and single-nucleotide polymorphism genotyping in DNA pools.
