This book was pimped by some of my favorite book bloggers as being beyond words awesome. So I had to check it out.
The cover is great.
The story... not so much.
It was just missing something. It just fell short for me.
Good girl, Bad boy with bad past. Out of no where Anna's thoughts and descriptions have the words pu$$! And co&%; it was just so out of character. The insta-love but no real connection. No real angst between people. Anna lets Alice walk all over her. Deanna is running things. Rex is in control of everything in the wrestling world. And our guys, Anna and X, are just helpless to fix any of it.
It wasn't horrible...but it was't awesome.
I won't be reading the sequel.

I have been on pins and needles waiting for this book to finally come out. When I saw it on my kindle today I HAD to start it immediately. I was teased by that cover for far too long.
Anna Cortez was a good girl. Raised in a strictly religious family where her entire life was mapped out for her she felt like she had no choice but to run away. She is a new college grad and naive in the ways of the world. When she meets Xavier Cold, also known as Phenomenal X is the wrestling world, while on the plane during her escape she is thrown for a loop. Even though there is an instant attraction between them that could start a forest fire she is determined to be the woman she was raised to be and stick to her morals. She just wasn't counting on Xavier chasing her. To be her "friend".
Xavier knows that he is no good for Anna. He warns her repeatedly that he is a bad man. That they can only be friends and even instigates the 3 rules of their friendship:
Rule #1 No getting naked in his bed
Rule #2 no kissing ....later amended to no open-mouthed kissing
Rule #3 If either one of them starts developing feelings for the other person, they had to tell
Even with these rules Xavier still pursues Anna. Claiming that he was simply acting as her bodyguard in the new city and even going so far to offer her a job as his personal assistant. When Anna finally accepts his employment they are thrown together all the time. They quickly learn that there is more to their relationship then mere "friendship".
I feel in love with Xavier from the word go. He kept being such a hard ass but showed with his actions that he truly had a good heart. His background was heartbreaking. And I truly enjoyed Anna as well. Even though she was raised to always be the good girl she didn't go crazy one she was free from her family. She still retained her sense of worth and morals for the most part. I even liked that every once in a while she was sassy.
That cliffhanger ending about killed me. I had a tear in my eye after that one. I wanted more of the story. I'm in desperate need to know what happens next!

Loved this book but it has been out over a year and no book 2!
I don't want to start reading anything else by this author if she is going to just leave us with a yearlong cliffhanger.

Wow!!! THIS BOOK IS HOT! I want more!! I just couldn't put this book down, I read it in one day, and it left me hungover and wanting more now! Anna is your good girl, Xavier is your bad boy.. but they have some serious chemistry. I loved this one so much, I started on the Black Falcon series. I've really become a HUGE Michelle A. Valentine fan!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I enjoyed this book and was so hoping that when I finished it that part two would have been ready or showing a release date. Please don't have us new and old fans waiting too long. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
So I read this book because I saw it on Goodreads and came highly rated by a few of my fav authors and friends...needless to say I think I read it in like a day and a half...I just couldn't put it down.
We basically start out by being introduced to the main characters from the start...Anna a somewhat sheltered young lady who has decided she wants to live life on her own...against her father's wishes...and Xavier Cold known simply as X in the world of professional wrestling.
From the instant they lock eyes you know almost where this story is going, but it's what happens in between that kinda of surprises you. It seems almost as if fate has put X on Anna's path...because with each turn, he is there. He isn't your typical alpha male either, in some aspects he is completely surprising.
Anna however, needs the help she gets from her Aunt and her cousin along the way...and even the guidance she gets from X. I was kind of surprised by how the story developed, but Can't wait to read the sequel. Which hopefully comes out soon! Thanks to this book, I was also lead to Michelle's other series known as The Black Falcon Series, which I would highly recommend as well.
All in all, I think I read about 5 of her books including this one in about one week... Just saying. =)

I have loved Michelle A. Valentine's books for awhile now. I am seriously obsessed with Riff so when I read Phenomenal X I was genuinely surprised and thrilled at how wonderful Xavier was in this story. I can't wait for the next installment in this story. Black Falcon has some competition in Phenomenal. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I love reading teasers prior to a books release and NOT being disappointed after reading the book. PX is another MUST READ from Michelle A. Valentine. Anna & Xavier’s chemistry is OFF.THE.CHARTS. X is one cocky alpha male with the goods to back it up. PX is a fast pace story with one hell of an ending. I was so stunned when it ended that I was screaming for more. I need to know where this story is going & I can’t wait to get the answers I need.
- This relationship between us makes me question every moral I’ve ever been taught, and I can’t help but think that one of these days I’m going to chuck them all out the window and just enjoy the “Phenomenal” ride.

Just because I did not like this book I'm not going to give up on reading the author's other works. I hate giving bad reviews, but there just isn't a way around it this time. This review will be full of negatives because that's what my notes are full of. But, like I said above, I'm not giving up on Michelle Valentine and I still have her other books on my waiting list.
I was first driven to read this book because it's based in Detroit and about wrestling. I like wrestling and I live in Michigan, it sounded interesting. I just found the book to be so full of cliques right from the start. Good girl, bad boy, you know the story.
The pages are full of Anna, our heroines incessant chatter. I honestly thought Anna was such a moron that I started referring to her as that in my notes. After Anna randomly decides she does want X, for whatever reason, we then have to hear about how he's so hot and she wants to touch him over and over again. Apparently in the span of a flight Anna went from quiet naive girl to down right vixen with all kinds of things in her head.
I started out the story interested in X and even liking him a bit, he seemed like the type of guy who wanted to take care of and protect Anna. You know I like that in an Alpha. Sadly, my feelings turned to annoyance pretty darn quick. Of course X does some stupid things, it's a romance novel he's expected to, except I didn't think he ever really made up for doing them. Anna takes him back and makes a bunch of excuses for his actions, because that's what weak stupid chicks do right? We do get some of the story in X's eyes, but it's not really important to anything at all.
I guess for the most part I just found the characters to be lacking. I didn't feel any depth or emotion from them. Multiple times I was able to put the book down because I was bored. Between the characters, the drama, just everything, everything was so over the top. I like OTT stuff, but this was OTT with the added benefit of being boring. I'm not sure if Valentine isn't an actual wrestling fan or if she just didn't expect any of her readers to be, but things are far fetched even for the a fiction book based on a fiction industry.
There is a cliffhanger in this book, but it too was just ridiculous. I will be reading Valentine's series, Black Falcon, but I will not be reading any other books from this series. In fact I'm trying to erase them from my mind.

Loved the book! It is actually the first book in a two part story, the next book coming out later this summer. Worth every penny, and I actually bought a couple of other stories by this author and was equally happy. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I was unsure if I was going to like this book when I bought it. I like Michelle Valentine's Black Falcon books so I thought I would give this one a try. Anna was raised in a stringent Christian home and ran away from her overbearing father. Xavier is a professional wrestler and they meet by chance. They both fight their feelings for each other throughout most of the book. Anna continually tried to find something redeeming in Xavier so that she could confirm that her feelings for him were true and he was worth it. Xavier has a lot of demons and we see glimpses of them. He tries to shield Anna from asking questions and dredging up his past. Overall was a good read, however it ended abruptly and that took away from it for me personally. Was this review helpful? Another favorite by Valentine
After seeing this cover back a few months ago, I really didn't even care the premise of the story, I just knew I had to read it. Well, the cover not only looked amazing but was totally relevant to the story and I just love when that happens.
Xavier is a professional wrestler with a past he keeps private. It affects how he interacts with others and most importantly it is one reason he tends to be a womanizer. That is until a chance encounter with Anna Cortez.
Anna is literally escaping from the clutches of her overbearing father. Seeking solace and a chance to experience life she heads out to live with her aunt and cousin, both of whom are excellent secondary characters.
Xavier and his life can be a little too much for this sheltered beauty, but for some reason his draw to her causes him to befriend her. Anna cannot deny the chemistry she has with Xavier, but her perception of what she means to him are blown after he pulls a typical stupid male move. But after the life Xavier has had, one thing he is not is a quitter.
I really loved this story. Xavier, except for the one part which really ticked me off, was a great strong alpha hero. Anna was believable as a somewhat naive but curious heroine. The two together make a great couple.
I have to admit I did not see the story going the direction it did at the end, not only with Anna and her role in Xavier's job, and in the ending itself. Yes there is a cliffy so be prepared. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book to see what happens.
