Nearly 200 copies of this book sold before it went to press.

The city's best chefs contributed recipes that are easy for anyone to do. There's the history, of course, but what pulls this book together is the groupings of the serious Italian cooks from The Saloon, La Buca, Il Portico, Il Tartuffo, La Veranda and others, with the fast-food greats that depended on their Italian heritage to make American classics better, such as the owners of Pat's King of Steaks, Nick's Roost Beef, John's Roast Pork (a James Beard Award winner) and Tony Luke's... there're all here with their recipes!

About 110 recipes, illustrated, paperback available at Barnes & Noble.

    Best of the bunch!

There are many new cookbooks on the scene that purport to be "official" South Philly Italian cookbooks. This is the bible of the lot. You are wasting your money if you don't get this one for your collection. It has more and better recipes than any of the others.

    OUTSTANDING!

Everyone knows that Philadelphia is a great city for food. Ms. Morello has captured the best of best in her readable and concise cookbook. I just made a full dinner based on these recipes with fabulous results. I can't praise it enough!

CELESTE CREATS A CELESTIAL COOKBOOK !!!

This was a well-written book while compiles many of the most delicous Italian recipes from some pretty interesting people in South Philadelphia's Italian Market area. I HIGHLY recommend the Italian Rum Cake recipe...Another fine book by this author...also recommend her book about the history of St. Paul's Church for those with a love of religious history. Kudos to this author !!!!

Excellent reading for the Italian in all of us.

I found this book to be not only unique in its old fashion recipes like mama used to make. This book is also interesting in the authors relation to the past. Bravo on a new exciting author.
