A lovely text, but not easy to read/apply

I have always been a fast learner and able to read and comprehend fairly quickly. This book, although thorough, is terribly difficult to read. I have worked hard, read ahead, etc., but everyone in my class agrees that this text is too descriptive, too concerned with every little detail of the physiology to be helpful to nursing students. I truly want to know all that I can about the art and science of the human body, however, nursing students need to know and understand the BASICS first. I found that this text was not as helpful as it could have been. The nursing class that began one semester behind mine is using a different text altogether! I wouldn't be shocked to find medical students using this text.

Tough read, not so up to date

This book is a tough read compared to other med surg textbooks I have read. Most important though - my professor had to correct information in our readings with up to date info that older edition textbooks had correct. This occured several times through the semester and was confusing at exam time.
