The book was only 72 pages with a 10 page preview of a book that already came out in 2015. It felt rushed and very predictable and very...very dissapointing.

Very rushed. I wish it had been longer! Will still buy the next book in the series.

72 pages on my nook. And that isn't including the excerpt at the end or the contents/legal junk pages. It was so rushed, the story didn't feel like it even began before it ended. This book may be the reason I don't buy the rest of them.

We have been waiting for Noah and Nix story and we got it but although it has the elements of an alpha pack book. It comes out rushed and underdone and it hard to connect to the characters. I love this series but this one is a C+ effort at best.

2.5 stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog It is no secret that I’m a fan of this series. When I first noticed there would be a m/m story as we found out one of the Pack members found his mate in a human nurse at the compound, I was extremely giddy. Especially because he was rejecting the idea completely and I thought that would make for a good angsty story. And then we get PHOENIX REBORN. Which was just too….. simple. The story, the characters, it just all felt like a waste of a good base for a book! I started off liking both of them, but quickly realized Nix was going to annoy the crap out of me. A lot of his issues come from the homophobia he had to deal with from his father. And I’m sorry, after he’s now turned into a big bad shifter, I can’t get behind his way of thinking. And after a while, Noah’s actions were also getting on my nerves. So basically I spent a lot of time while reading this book wanting to shake both characters! The one thing I did like was the tie in to the phoenix aspect and how the author was able to work that in. But other than that, this book has left me a bit disappointed. I’m not sure if I can say the author was comfortable writing a male/male couple. The dynamics between them didn’t really work for me, and the sex got repetitive. As always though, this is a series I’ll continue reading, even though sadly this one missed the mark for me.

Short but still a great read :)

I like this author, but this is too short and I am irritated that I was forced to delete it and buy it a second time in order to download it at all.

I was dying for this story and couldn’t wait to dig in. I did enjoy it but I felt Noah’s character wasn’t fluid. His personality changed and from flamboyant, to strong, and back again. Nix was driving me crazy with his feelings. He wanted to love Noah but he’s suppressed his real self because of an abusive father. We do get some insight in to both characters’ backgrounds though and I loved that. I think my high expectations and anticipation of the story soured my view on it. Though for fans of the series, I would totally recommend the novella. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. J.D. Tyler’s Phoenix Reborn is an excellent addition to the Alpha Pack Series. Wolf shifter/Firewalker Phoenix “Nix” Monroe has finally met his Bondmate nurse Noah Brooks. Because of his upbringing, he is struggling with the fact that Noah is male. This contemporary shapeshifter PNR takes place in Shoshone National Forest, Wyoming. It is appropriate for adult audiences. Noah is a likable character. He is the head nurse at Sanctuary, where he has worked for the past two years and finally feels like he belongs. He discovers some interesting things about his heritage and grows a lot in this story. Phoenix has recently rejoined the Alpha Pack after being held captive and thought to be dead. Nix is having a difficult time dealing with his past and his sexuality. He loves Noah but is conflicted by his emotions. Some things happen that threaten Noah and make Nix evaluate his feeling. Kalen Black is one of my all-time favorite Alpha Pack members, so I was happy with his and Blue’s involvement in the story. Phoenix Reborn is a wonderful novella that is a quick read at 105 pages. I enjoyed the plot. A number of things happen through this story that kept me fully engaged. Phoenix Reborn is the perfect name to the book for multiple reasons. I love this series, and I am looking forward to book eight. Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 3 1/2 I am so happy that Nix & Noah finally go their story. It has been a long time coming. Noah is the bubbly nurse that everyone loves and wants to see happy. Nix is trying to get back to who he was before captured. But in order to be happy Nix is going to have to face a lot of demons from his past and embrace his future with the the mate he never really knew he wanted. I am enjoyed Nix & Noah’s story a lot. It will be interesting to see how these two grow as the series goes on. Review: PHOENIX REBORN: An Alpha Pack Novella by J. D. Tyler http://wp.me/p3d0RZ-4rL Publication Date: March 15, 2016 Genre: MM / Paranormal Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated: 4.5 Stars REVIEW: I loved this sexy novella about Nix and Noah and will say it was about time that Nix claimed his mate. I also appreciated that their love story was just that, a love story with the threat of an old enemy adding the pulse pumping action. I only wished it had been longer than a novella so that some of the action could have been fleshed out more. But no matter what, I can never get enough of the Alpha Pack. *Review copy provided by Berkley/NAL in exchange for an honest review.

NOTE: PHOENIX REBORN is a M/M story line with same sex situations and graphic text. REVIEW: 3.5 stars---PHOENIX REBORN is the latest novella in J.D. Tyler’s contemporary, adult ALPHA PACK paranormal, romance series focusing on a top secret team of shifters and other supernatural beings with Psy powers and special abilities. This is wolf shifter/Firewalker Phoenix ‘Nix’ Munroe, and Alpha Pack nurse Noah Brooks’s story line. PHOENIX REBORN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from several third person perspectives PHOENIX REBORN focuses on the building relationship between nurse Noah Brooks, and his reluctant mate Nix Munroe. Nix knows that Noah-a human-is his mate but Nix is unwilling to acknowledge his attraction or the fact that he is gay. Nix was raised by a homophobic father, and in this, he has tried everything to prevent his attraction to the man who is his fated ‘bondmate’. But a threat from the past finds Noah in a precarious position, and Nix believing that fate has come full circle. PHOENIX REBORN is a fast paced novella with a large ensemble cast of characters from the previous storyline in supporting and secondary roles. The world building focuses on the struggle for acceptance; family and love. The premise is simple without too much angst; the characters are engaging; the happily ever after is a slow build to forever. Because this is a novella, I found the story line lacking in sensuality and the build up of the relationship was too quick. The simplicity of the text seems discordant with the rest of the series-a unembellished tale that should have been more inviting.
