Mamie Smith's "Crazy Blues" helped launch the blues craze. One gets to hear such famous performers as Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor years before they appeared in films. There is also the underrated Aileen Stanley, the legendary Nora Bayes and the popular vaudevillians Van & Schenck on "Ain't We Got Fun". As usual, Archeophone's booklet is full of informative and colorful information about both the music and the year itself. A perfectly conceived set.
