I was browsing the book store before Christmas looking for Children's books when as I was exiting the store I passed a table with this book. As soon as I opened it I could not put it down. I love taking pictures and I am always impressed with the ability some photographers have to not only catch a moment in time but also catch the emotions and feeling of those in the photograph. This book has to be one of my favorite books of photographs I have ever purchased. I only wish it was in a larger format. I not only bought a copy for my myself, but another as a gift. The price was unbelievably inexpensive for such a beautiful pictorial. It is a book you will pick up over and over again and find it to be a great conversation piece.
This book is one of my favorites. It has tons of pictures taken by great international photographers. It is very complete. The images are big, it is organized by subjects. I just love it! You can learn about many different photographers and about they way of viewing reality throuht the lens. I would deffinetly recommend this book to any photographer out there.
This is an incredible book of photos- an even mix of black and white and color photos covering historical events, war, fashion, sports, portraits, wild life, landscapes, still life and much more. Each of the photos is accompanied by an overview about the photographer as well as quotes from the artists about their work. With 200+ photographers whose work covers a period of at least 70 years this collection is stunning and unique. All of the photos are high quality and unmared by page numbers or text so they can be framed. There is full frontal male and female nudity and a complete section on nudes, just a warning for those with kids. I would consider this an excellent gift for a photo buff or any art lover. Between my member discount, a coupon and the in-store sale I paid less than $20 for this book!!!! I'm very very happy with this purchase.
