This book makes an excellent companion book to "The Horse Conformation Handbook" by Heather Thomas. It was not designed to be an introduction to horse conformation, but it makes a great reference for someone who wants to supplement what they're learning about with examples.
I bought it because I wanted a professional to show me real-life examples of specific conformation faults, and strengths, that I had already read about. In that capacity, I've been extremely happy with the book. The captions are pretty much spot-on, and there's a glossary for any terms you may not know.
If you own/ride a horse and you're wondering whether or not you need to learn about conformation, the answer is, "Yes!!! Get to it!"
