Photographing Children in Black & Whiteby Helen T. Boursier
- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
While color photography is the expected style for children's portraiture, this book teaches photographers the skills they need to create highly marketable black-and-white portraits of children. Guidance is provided for seeking out locations and props that are the most amenable to black-and-white portraiture of children-from portraits with siblings on the beach to a child alone with a treasured toy. Tried-and-true secrets are given for getting kids to behave, while also making sure that the children are having a good time-crucial for capturing those priceless expressions that set every child apart from the crowd. This is the first photography book I owned. I found the pictures to be very inspirational, the information and tips practical and useful, and the book to be a very good value for the money. I have recommended it to many people and have enjoyed it many times.
I live on Cape Cod and was familiar with the author's work before finding this book. The topic is focused and offers more advice and examples for a successful photo shoot than technical information. I read many useful ideas that I'm looking forward to trying on the beaches when it thaws out here!
