I work in web design and until now I mainly used Macromedia products. As much as I wanted to I never really found the time to learn how to use Photoshop efficiently, until now. After reading Wendy Willard¿s book I am very impressed with its layout and content. Even though it states that each chapter is independent, and you can skip around, I would suggest you read from start to finish. Wendy¿s easy conversational style, without chatter, makes the book as enjoyable to read as a novel. The flow of information is presented in the logical order necessary to develop a site while maximizing productivity. Wendy scatters tips throughout the pages and it would be a shame to miss any of them. I found Photoshop 7 Tips & Techniques to be a perfect companion to the technical Photoshop 7 book that shipped with the software. The technical book was great at outlining what Photoshop 7 could do. Tips & Techniques goes the step further to tell you the how and why. Two points I found outstanding about the book were the chapters on Customizing Photoshop for Web and Print design, which will save me hours in design time with each project, and her use of Try It tips. The Try It tips encouraged you to try it so you would remember it. Using this learning technique works. The Try It tips are quick and easy to follow examples that you can readily try out on your computer and then return to reading. This book helped me to become comfortable adding Photoshop to my design tool bag in a very short time. I am going to put it on the suggested reading list for the other webmasters at work but they¿ll have to get their own copy. This one¿s mine! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I work in the field of marketing and have dabbled with Photoshop for a while. I now find myself using it more and more since getting this book. I like that the book breaks things down and makes the program easy for the user to understand yet isnt't so simplistic an avid user would get bored. One of my favorite features of the book is the center section; here there are color photos of color swatches, different blending techniques, layering effects, etc. I refer to this section often, rather than choosing each effect on the menu bar and undoing until I find what I'm looking for. This book has a permanent spot within arms reach of my computer. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Wendy makes learning Photoshop fun and easy, teaching her readers the most practical and useful aspects of Photoshop by featuring examples of real-world uses. With this book, users can mix-and-master Photoshop skills at their own pace by applying the book's easy to understand tips and techniques to everyday project tasks. The book teaches Photoshop's capabilities through easy to follow step-by-step techniques that are specifically designed to create effects that readily transfer to other uses of design and photo image editing. The book is packed with intuitive 'Quick Tips' (my favorite part), helpful 'Notes' and invaluable high-end techniques that quickly result in top- quality, professional images. The best part about this book is that it overlooks nobody. Both professional and amateur web designers, photographers and print designers will appreciate the attention Wendy brings to their specific and often unique industry requirements, helping to streamline their tasks, improve their quality of work and enhance their Photoshop experience. Was this review helpful?
