Having read a third of 'Photoshop 5 Bible', and feeling impotent, I found 'chops'. I'm really impressed. You get a feel for how the Photoshop designers were intending their product to be used. However, 'chops' doesn't teach you the basics of the PS toolkit. It is rumored that the PS manual is sufficient to learn the toolkit basics.
