The Photoshop CS4 Companion for Photographers Notice the word "companion" in the title of this book. It's there for a reason: to define the intent of this slim, paperback-sized volume. This is not an in-depth book from which one learns Photoshop. Nor is it a single subject book-designed to turn the reader into an expert on say, layers, composting or the use of blend modes. Rather, The CS4 Companion for Photographers is a throw-in-your-computer-bag mini-toolkit for the on-the-go-photographer. The book is workflow oriented. That is, it highlights the key steps and techniques necessary to get from raw image import to finished printed output logically and economically. Put a bit differently, it cuts through the 10 ways Photoshop has to do just about everything to show photographers the most used (and useful) steps and skills to turn raw images into professional prints.
