From Barnes & NobleThe Barnes & Noble Review
Dave Cross calls this book Photoshop Finishing Touches, but it's more than that: It's about transforming good images into outstanding images.
Cross has identified 59 techniques for doing just that. Frames and bordering (for instance, getting that "painted-on" look, or using borders from Illustrator). Color and artistic effects (make colors really pop, get great spotlight and lighting effects, use split toning to combine warm and cool tones in one image). And, finally, presentation techniques (for standout slide shows and web photo galleries).
Beyond the wonderful content, this book has two nifty innovations. First: a visual table of contents, so you can instantly see what a technique does, and whether it's likely to interest you. Second, Cross segregates 13 core techniques in a Key Concepts chapter. Already know how to create a layer mask? This book won't waste your time. Need the refresher? It's there.
