Bad coding structures and buggy example programs!
I have no problems with the fact that it really isn't a "beginner's" book when it comes to HTML. If you don't already know HTML, why in the world are you trying to learn PHP to begin with?
I do, however, have problems with him teaching beginners bad coding habits. I also have problems with sloppy, buggy example programs that do not work! I finally got frustrated and COPY/PASTED the author's code assuming I had made a typo somewhere that I wasn't seeing, and the programs still refuse to run 75% of the time. There are many books our there that are considerably better suited to learning a new programming language - pick a different one!

Please read the 'Synopsis' again! It states 'Assuming a familiarity with HTML and basic coding, this guide uses game code written in PHP to illustrate the programming principles of...' doesn't read 'beginning HTML also included in this book'! If you're going into .php, you should already have previous knowledge of .html! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

The author needs to write: 'for the PHP beginner' ... because on page two the reader is immediately directed to refresh his/her existing HTML skills ... happily, I bought the book as a reference. Generally, well-written for all skill levels. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
