This book addresses the evaluation, treatment modalities, equipment, and management strategies of specific problems and diagnoses frequently encountered in the practice of rehabilitation medicine. This book covers both basic concepts and current treatment principles. The purpose is to meet the needs of the modern practitioner and provide selected references for those who desire more in-depth knowledge. Because of the expanding and changing clinical practice of physical medicine and rehabilitation, these are worthy objectives. This book is successful in accomplishing these objectives. This book has 114 contributors, all very credible authorities. No specific target audience is identified by the editor other than many different types of practitioners. It is certainly appropriate for residents in rehabilitation medicine and as a reference for all practitioners in the specialty. A nice accumulation of very appropriate illustrations from other sources is a strength of this book. It is a pleasant in appearance and reader friendly, with a clear and helpful table of contents. References are current and appropriate. This is a comprehensive book on the principles of rehabilitation medicine. Chapters are well written with appropriate, pertinent illustrations and current references. The spectrum of information covered, basic concepts to current treatment principles, makes it appropriate for both those in training and those in practice. This book fulfills the basic text requirements for the home library for all those who practice rehabilitation medicine.
