From The CriticsReviewer: Aaron M. McBride, MPT, ATC (HealthSouth Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center)
Description: This text is intended as a clinical companion tool for physical therapists and physical therapy students working in the clinical environment.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide physical therapists with information of essential clinical relevance so that they have a thorough understanding of a patient's condition and can formulate the most appropriate treatment plan. In today's insurance crunch, this text is a nice tool for basic information and understanding of certain diagnoses, resulting in ease of critical decision making.
Audience: Essentially, this is a compilation of information for both practicing therapists and students. The information derived is from clinicians practicing in their respective fields such as neurological, orthopedic, and cardiovascular rehabilitation.
Features: A nice overview of a wide variety of conditions from all realms of physical therapy is provided. Specific chapters such as those regarding diagnostic testing and ECG analysis are nicely illustrated, demonstrating outcomes of tests and their interpretation. The illustrations are of a hand drawn nature, but are nonetheless quite informative and descriptive.
Assessment: This is a nice tool for those who are just entering the profession either as students or therapists undergoing a change of venue. Most experienced therapists in their field will already have a larger base of knowledge than what is offered here, but this is a good tool to have on hand for reference.
