Written in the form of a text for (say) advanced undergraduates (but too expensive to see general use in that function), the book (subtitled Dynamics and evolution, space navigation, space-time structure) provides a nicely detailed modern day account of the topic to which the titles refers. Though results gained/motivated in recent decades by our active exploration of the solar system contribute importantly to the selection and substance of the material presented, the emphasis is on points of dynamical principal. Twenty chapters (exercises and a few references at the end of each) provide exceptionally good coverage. The rather awkwardly typed equations are intelligible, but disappointing in a book so expensive. Probably most useful not as a text but as a reference resource. (NW) Annotation c.
