The Piano Bench of Easy Classical Music has become one of my favorite books. It includes at least 200 of the best and well known compositions from the early 17th ¿ early 20th century composers such as Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. The selections are easier than the original compositions, but not in any way elementary sounding. I would recommend this book for all piano students with at least two to three years of lessons. In fact, I intend to purchase another one for a friend. It makes a gift that keeps on giving.

This 400 page book edited by Amy Appleby includes the best of every book I've ever studied from. It contains over 200 easier versions of great masterpieces. There are 39 Renaissance and Baroque (e.g. Purcell, Scarlatti, Bach and Handel), 48 classical (e.g. Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart) , 46 Romantic (e.g. Chopin, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky), 14 Impressionist and Modern Composers (e.g. Debussy, Dvorak, and Rimsky-Korsakov), 19 Light Classics (e.g. Strauss and Waldteufel), 28 opera themes (e.g. Bizet's 'Carmen, and Mozart's 'Marriage of Figaro', 11 scenes from the ballet (e.g. Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and the Nutcracker) and 9 duets by Beethoven, Brahms, Haydn, Schubert,Tchaikovsky, etc. The book is beautiful bound with a rugged plastic binding that stays open on the piano. The pages are bright with legible notes. I would recommend this book for the students playing two years or more. This would make an excellent special occasion gift for piano enthusiasts. It is an tremendous value. You may want to throw away all of your old piano books and just keep this one with all of your favorites.

Fabulous selection. Any beginning/early intermediate student should be thrilled to play these pieces.

I got this book as a gift and I've given it as gifts. The scope of selections is so appealing, one never loses interest. It also got my teacher's 'Seal of Approval'
