Overview

This series introduces young readers to the world's most celebrated painters and sculptors. Each title assesses the achievement of the artist, focusing on his most famous works. The book discusses Picasso's achievements as a painter and sculptor, his relationships with other artists, and the enormous impact of his work on modern art.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jessica Deutsch
In the company of Cezanne, da Vinci, Matisse, Michelangelo, Mor, Monet, and Van Gogh (the other artists included in this series), Picasso is revealed for all his genius, intrigue and range in this beautifully arranged book. Young readers familiar with the Internet will relate immediately to the "web-page" style in which each period of Picasso's life is laid out. And there is much to be learned about history, mood, color, and career as the eye (and mind) is shifted from fine detail to the "big picture" of a legend's life. Carefully orchestrated activities will encourage hands-on exploration that will challenge and excite even adolescent artists in their own "blue periods."
