Overview

One of the world’s most famous and intriguing twentieth-century artists, Pablo Picasso produced a vast body of work—including paintings, drawings, lithographs, ceramics and sculptures. From small paper, string and wood sculptures of guitars to paintings such as Les Demoiselles d’Avignon he revealed himself to have been tirelessly inventive and innovative.

Known as the founder of the Cubist movement, Picasso also created work in a number of other styles—realistic, Surrealistic and classicist. He rebelled against his contemporaries and produced paintings that shocked and challenged the viewer.

Through his work and with documents such as sketches, letters and photographs, this book gives the reader the opportunity to examine the events, people and places that shaped and influenced Picasso.
