Children's LiteratureThis small book for young readers tells all one needs to know about pickup trucks. As part of the "Pull Ahead Books-Mighty Movers" series, it delivers information in a simple yet detailed format. Color photographs dominate the pages, but simple text educates the reader. One cannot help being fascinated with the pickup's ability to carry cargo on and off the highways. Monster trucks, the huge-wheeled, car-squashing, road-racing vehicles, are explored as well, promising to intrigue even the most disinterested. The interior of the truck is highlighted so that the reader can further understand the "car gadgets" with which he or she is already familiar: the steering wheel, speedometer, gas gauge, and pedals. A diagram of a pickup truck is included in the back of the book with its main parts labeledwheels, cab, box, topper, tailgate, and trailer hitch. A glossary, an index, and an additional facts section are also included. Any young child fascinated with trucks will enjoy this book. Pre-school teachers will find it a positive addition to their library as well. 2005, Lerner Publications Company, and Ages 2 to 6.
