The expanded new edition of this SAT test preparation aid employs humor to help students strengthen their vocabulary. It uses cartoons to focus on word meanings and their usage. 300 cartoon illustrations familiarize students with words they are almost certain to encounter when they take the SAT. Each cartoon's visual pun serves as a memory aid that relates to the target word's meaning. Every word-related cartoon includes both a definition and three sample sentences to demonstrate how the word is used in standard contexts. To reinforce memory retention, a set of SAT-style sentence completion exercises follows every group of 12 cartoons.

I have always struggled with vocabulary, and this really affected my test scores like the SSAT, PSAT, etc. I was never able to learn vocab just by looking at a list (the kind of lists that are in most prep books) so I was skeptical about getting this book. All I can say is, WOW!!! I learned 24 words in about 20 minutes, and when my mom quizzed me a week later I still remembered them! I guess this makes sense since I'm a visual learner, but even if you're not, I'd recommend this book anyways!! Finally, I can learn SAT vocab and actually remember it!!

Truely unexpected. When i was studing the book, it really didn't feel like the idea of super-mneomics was really working, but after i finished the book and went on to another, i wasn't able learn so easily. And now i think back to the words, i really see the picture in my mind. Recommend to everyone.

At first, I thought that the cartoons were really pointless. But they give clear definations of each word, and the section reviews are excellent. I recommend making flash cards to go along with this book.
