Pieces of You is a perfect album for those days when you feel really frustrated, confused, sad, happy, angry, or just plain emotional. Jewel really touches on some powerful feelings here: the pain of lost love (You Were Meant For Me & Painters), the anger of an abused child (Daddy), and the conflicting ideas of society (Who Will Save Your Soul? & Pieces of You). As for the music, the guitars and soft keyboards on the album could almost be set to lullabies. All in all a very deep, very thought provoking album.

Beautiful melodies combine with intelligent lyrics and hauntingly brilliant guitar backing to produce Jewel's signature sound. All these songs are deep and deeply emotional, but not all of them draw the listener fully in; it is sometimes difficult to relate. The best song is undoubtedly 'Foolish Games', and 'Morning Song' is a close second. Brilliantly crafted, this album is a must-listen.

I think Jewels first CD (Pieces Of You) is one of the BEST! It's so sccustic and shows her real natural talent. although Pieces of you the song isn't the best, I really enjoyed Folish Games, Adrian, and Daddy. You Were Meant For Me is the perfect song to sing (I sang it at a family reunion) Jewel has so many good songs on this CD. I hope if you buy it , you enjoy it as much as I do! :)

in this her first and deepest cd jewell performed with the heart in which she wrote the works, although later she went on to re record some tracks with more flair the original were the best of a female artest first work, each track breathing on its own a journey through the soul of a woman. you will never tire of this work.

Excluding a couple songs here and there, I really liked this cd. I mean, the song Pieces of You was disappointing, and Adrian and Painters got pretty boring, but I loved the rest. They portrayed a lot of anger and beauty. I think getting this cd was definitely worth it. She even includes some neat poems in the package. On the whole, I think Jewel is a very gifted singer.

This recording allows one to have a ''coffee-house'' in their own living room. Familiar here are voices of Joni Mitchell, Janis Ian, Kathy Mattea and Suzanne Vega...all rolled into one, spiced with the likes of John Stewart and John Prine. The voice is raw and drives home the point. A rare and fresh talent (what with the fecal content on the radio of today...remember when FM was commercial free?)...and the acoustics just make it warm and real. The melodies may sound the same... but so do our politicians. This ''LADY'' is going places and you can take that to the bank!
