    Disturbingly Great. Here's How...

I read this book after reading the prequel, This Present Darkness, I thought that I was just-as-more nabbed by the amazing literature from this novel than the other. This Present Darkness left me utterly speechless (something that I had not expected of a Christian novel [to rephrase: I hadn't thought that much good Christian books besides Chronicles of Narnia were ever good. Boy was I wrong!]). This book and This Present Darkness not only caught my full admiration and fanhood but also won my praise for Mr. Perreti's astonishing, subtle [the good subtle] way of luring readers, like me, to such a convicting, disturbing and supreme story of spiritual warfare. It not only supports Christian fundamentalists but it also puts a fictitious approach that is convincing and necessary. Fiction? Christian-novel? Yet still powerful and an endorsement of our Lord Jesus and our Unfathomable God? And some how Perreti pulled it off! I cannot express my awe of this novel and the elaboration it draws upon the reader. Several times I found myself guessing of what will happen next, crying [not literally] when a demon plotted with others of what hideous deeds they would do to our poor, willed-beaten Christian brethren and I even gasped, literally gasped at the lattice of convincing and strong characterization and the amazing structions and substratums of the plot of this tale. I was simply breathless. Still not convinced this book is worthwhile? Well, though I try to be a servant of God, I find myself reading secular fantasies alot, especially Raymond E. Fiests books, I haven't thought a good, edible Christian book could exist to give the spice it needs to satisfy my picky-taste {e.g. I do not easily call a novel 'good' without indebt scrutiny). BUT! This book, however, was more than satisfying that I was dieing for more. In Piercing the Darkness, I found myself experiencing the trials of the Christian characters as a Satanic organization pinned them to an impossible child abuse lawsuit on a Christian man in a Christian school, or a foreplanned murder, etc.. My head swam from the invigorating sequences of scenes that literally sucked you into the emotions, the trials, the battles, and the victories the fictitious characters etched on page experienced. This book is no other. It is worth the money, it is worth your time, and it is worth the pains and pleasures of possibilities CLEARLY portrayed through this novel. You will be pleased.

    A fan

I think this book is great! I love how the book draws you in from the very beginning by starting off on an exciting note. It keeps you hanging on till the very end and keeps you wondering what will happen next. I also love the way Frank Peretti conveys spiritual truths--very simple, yet powerful.

    Best Series I've Ever Read

This book was a great follow up to "The Present Darkness". It mixes old characters with new ones, so it feels familiar without being a repeat of its forerunner. It gives a great picture of what goes on in the spiritual realm around us.

This is truly a great book. It tells a very interesting, suspenseful story. It deals with a lot of complex issues in a very down-to-earth manner. The characters are very, very realistic and the situations themselves seem like they could happen at any moment. Plus, the author perfectly straddles the boundary between promoting a religion and preaching. While it's apparent that the author endorses Christianity, that element isn't overwhelming. It's just a good book.

    The Darkness has been Pierced!!

This is another novel from Frank Peretti that is a must read!! If you liked This Present Darkness, you will love the sequel! But make sure you read This Present Darkness first, because this one refers to the first one a whole lot. Piercing the Darkness has more angel warriors, more creepy demons, and more action than ever before! Make sure you don't miss it!!!!

    NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING!!!!

Peretti has done it again! The detail of the spiritual warfare is incredible! I'm sure that I will read this book more than once. One of my favorite things about this book is the angels. I just love how he describes them so well, and how it goes back and forth between the spiritual battle and the phisical battle. When the angels sound the trumpet, I just get a joyful feeling that makes me want to leap up to heaven. I really reccomend this book to anyone looking for something to read!

Adds perspective to the September 11th tragedy

I read this book before the events of September 11th. Although there were a few things in the book that I did not agree with, I carried many profound lessons forward from the book. When I first saw the collapse of the World Trade Center towers, and the air thick with dust, I was also filled with the certainty that we were also viewing the presence of multitudes of angels, there to help the unfortunate victims. This book is about the battles of good vs. evil, and the difference we can make through our thoughts and prayers. In one memorable scene, an angel was asked why a demon was not routed out of a woman's life. His reply: 'He has a right to be there; he was invited in'. How often do we, in essence, invite demons into our lives, rather than forbidding their presence? And, how often do we remember to praise and give thanks for the blessings given to us?

    Read it!

This book is an insight of the Christian religion spiritualness...it doesn't mean to offend liberals or other religions like Robert Orsi had stated. This is the opinion of an author of what angels and demons are like, what they experience...it's entertaining - the way he has the creative imagination to just write his ideas and thoughts into a story that sounds so believable and who knows it MAY be the truth. Don't rule out the book's messages and ideas...but don't truly base everything on the book either. Frank Peretti at least has the mental capacity to imagine what most likely goes on right in front of our blinded eyes.

Read this book! You might think it is fiction, but someday, you will see! Demons are fighting for control of people, and this book, helps you to understand, you can win! Of course, Jesus is the way to Heaven, but first, we have to deal with this world and all the evil that is here. Read this with an open mind.

    Great Suspense!

I read this book a long time ago, but found it again for my Nook. WOW! I forgot most of the parts of this story and I found myself having a VERY hard time putting the book down. The story is woven on several fronts simultaneously and is skillfully brought together at the climax of the story. Very captivating reading!
