Meet the Author

JAMES THOMAS is the author of Pilgrim's Progress in Today's English. He is now at home with his Lord.

JOHN BUNYAN (1628-1688) was a Puritan preacher and writer in England. Bunyan had very little schooling. He followed his father in the tinker's trade, and served in the parliamentary army from 1644 to 1647. In 1655, Bunyan became a deacon and began preaching. He experienced marked success from the start and was the pastor of the Bedford church.

Bunyan is the author of The Pilgrim's Progress which he wrote in 1676 while imprisoned for preaching without a license. His numerous other titles include Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners and Holy War.

A must read for those wondering what the Christian faith is really about.

This readable, modern language version of the second most read book in the world is a great rework of a classic book and is one of those books that everyone should read once in their lifetime. Written in the form of an engaging, interesting story, it is an objective overview describing what the Christian faith is all about, and highlighting it's major elements. This book is a MUST read for any person who is open minded seeking the truth in their world-view, as it goes deeper than just rumor, innuendo and popular opinion about just what the Christian faith is. It vividly paints the greatest collection of wisdom in history: a historical library of 60 plus books, writings, letters and the equivalent of today's "White Papers"; written over 1500 years, by 40 separate authors from every walk of life and social level. Being the most scrutinized, debated and analyzed historical library ever, it has proven to be the most historical, biographically and archeologically documented historical library ever produced. Validating its authenticity, one fourth of this library was prophetic at its writing, now having been documented as truth. Also documenting the authenticity of it's 1500 years of recorded history, it is inter-woven with scores of events not understood in human context of known natural laws of the universe. Many of these events were witnessed in many cases by hundreds of lucid, rational, sober people. It would fill rooms to write the individual details of these events so this library is summarized in one volume, and Pilgrim's Progress brings out the timeless wisdom of that one volume - which is the Bible.

    I Love this book!

I have been a Christian for many years, yet this book has opened my eyes to new things about God and our journey to the "Celestial City". I will read it many times, I am sure. I hope you enjoy it too!
