As with their previous volume, Twilight Memories, Living Era performed a valuable service in reissuing the 27 selections heard on Pink Champagne: A Collection of Vintage Light Music. Most of them never before released on CD, these sides most from the late '40s or early '50s comprise light music of the highest order, most of them buoyant performances that shouldn't be dismissed as uncomplicated simply because they're upbeat and tuneful; in fact, they inordinately involve complex arrangements. One of the best is "Music for Rivers of the North of England," a piece separated into two parts, Serene and Flowing.
