    Lasting Memories of The Pink Motel

    My father read The Pink Motel to my sisters and me when we were young and it is a family favorite to this day. We had a pink hard-bound copy until 1996 when it was ruined in a flood. My father has since been able to find another copy, but I've looked everywhere for a pink hard-bound one of my own and haven't found it yet. This is one story I want to pass on to my son and hope it provides him the fond memories it did me.

    Pink Memories

    I really developed my love of reading in the fourth grade and I must have read The Pink Motel 10 times..I have shared this book with my 3 sons and they love it, too.

    Cherishing THE PINK MOTEL Forty Years Later

    As a child in Chicago I was devoted to my grandparents who always wintered in Florida. Hence, when my beloved Fifth Grade teacher, Sister Francita, encouraged us to read widely, I chose Mrs. Brink's exciting book about the mysterious motel near my grandparents' vacation spot. I truly loved that book and read it over and over. I think of it today as having been my favorite book as a child! Just the right dose of intrigue for young readers, with a bit of a geography lesson and the example of solid family values and a welcome for the stranger, I'd recommend TPM to young readers today.

    What a Great Book

    I have a short list of all-time favorite books I read when I was a kid. I have found nearly all those books and get to share them with my daughter. One book that stands out is The Pink Motel. I read it for the first time in the fourth grade and read it many more times over the next few years. There was just something about that wonderful book that pulled me back to it again and again. What a great time it was for those kids and their parents. I have wanted a rolltop desk since experiencing Uncle Hiram's. I may not be able to afford the desk right now, but I sure would love to find the book again.

    My all-time favorite

    I was given this book by my grandmother while on a family vacation in Florida the summer between 2nd & 3rd grade. I read it many times as a child but lost it when we had to move. The Robert Louis Stevenson quote has stayed with me to this day, almost 40 years later. I still scour the used bookstores for a copy to pass on to my grandchildren, especially since I now live in Florida. I wish some publisher would see fit to re-print it!

    The perfect fourth grade book

    I have always resisted categorizing books by grade level. However, when every fourth grader in my class who reads this book tells me he or she LOVES it, I begin to suspect that there is some special kind of chemistry going on here! The adventure, the wonderful characters, the sheer magic of the story -- all come together in a book which (despite its length) keeps kids turning pages and gives them a rip-roaring good read.

    FOR YEARS I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS BOOK

    IN 1967 I PICKED UP A BOOK CALLED 'THE PINK MOTEL' FROM A SHELVE IN THE SCHOOL LIBRARY. I WAS 12 YEARS OLD. IT HAD SUCH A GREAT IMPACT. I WANTED TO VISIT THE PINK MOTEL, FOR YEARS I HAD DREAMS ABOUT THE PINK MOTEL AND THROUGHOUT MY LIFE, LITTLE THINGS WOULD REMIND ME OF THE PINK MOTEL.. I REMEMBER HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS TO PART WITH THE BOOK.. I REMEMBER THE COVER, A PINK MOTEL ON THE BEACH. IT WAS A FAVORITE AND I WISH I COULD FIND IT AGAIN....

    READ IN 1970 and AGAIN IN 2000!

    My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Vasilevich, read this to us in 1970. I picked it up to read to my daughter this year (2000) and was amazed! This PINK motel and its occupants are still as vivid and fascinating now as they were 30 years ago!

    My Memories of the Pink Motel

    I was in the 3rd grade when my teacher began reading this wonderful book to the class after lunch. Being a 'Pink Fanatic' I was already drawn in! Even after 30 years I will never forget the rolltop desk and, if memory serves me right, the strawberry tarts so described by Mrs. Traub in her New England accent. My mouth still waters at the thought of those treats! I share these fondest memories with my husband and 17 year old son!!

    Return to The Pink Motel: 35 Years of Memories

    The best vacation spot in the world, that beloved Pink Motel! This story was read to me in 1966 when I was in the 3rd grade (and to my younger sister two years later...) We had reminisced about it throughout our adolescent years and as adults, but had never seen it in print since we were small children. We both regret not having had a copy to read to our children when they were younger. It's neat to know that others remember it after all these years, too... The Pink Motel is one of those great stories that opens up the imagination to all sorts of wonderful adventures. Read it to a child and travel on a great adventure to that incredible P-I-N-K Motel... It really is an unforgettable story for the young & young-at-heart!!! It's a real page-turner...you're child won't be able to put it down (neither will you!)
