SEW DEADLY, DEATH THREADS and PINNED FOR MURDER by Elizabeth Lynn Casey. I'm new to the party on this series. But the good news for me---I still have 5 more of the series in my TBR stack to enjoy! The newest being REMNANTS OF MURDER, released earlier this month. I fell in love with Tori/Victoria and the people of Sweet Briar from page one of Sew Deadly. Ms. Casey kept me guessing through all 3 stories. Not only that, she kept me laughing! Out loud at times! The members of the Sweet Briars Ladies Society Sewing Circle are different as night and day. The things they do have in common are, sewing, gossip and their strong belief in each other. Well, some stronger than others. But they always come around in the end. Tori, the town librarian, along with her fellow sewing circle members, finds herself wrapped up in one mystery after the other in these three titles. But working together there is nothing they can't do, be it a group sewing project or solving a crime. I just wish I had this group of women around in my life. Luckily, I can spend time with them on the pages! Each book includes sewing tips (Ms Casey gets some from her readers!) and a sewing pattern of the book's project. NOTE: You do not have to know sewing to enjoy these stories. And fans with book themes won't be disappointed. Plenty of time is spent in the Sweet Briar Library! I can't wait to get into the fourth in the series to see what the ladies are up to! Do yourself a favor...read this series!

What a story! Rose believes that her former student could not be a murderer, so Tori and her friends are doing everything they can to prove his innocence, but everything is not as it appears. This is one those stories where you get wrapped up in the character's lives that you're pulling for them in every step they take. There were a couple of tender and warm-filled moments that made this book a worthwhile read.

the 'south carolina sweet briar ladies society sewing circle' have done it again! in spite of a terrible storm that leaves severe damage in the area, they are busy solving the murder of the meanest woman in town. even though the ladies are as different as night and day, they are fast friends. miss elizabeth has a way of bringing her charcters to life, and also keeping you guessing until the last chapter. a cuppa your favorite beverage, a comfy chair, and this story will make a very pleasurable evening for you. a little mystery, a little romance, what could be better than that?

I loved all three of the books in this series and while I know this is not a sewing analogy, the best way to describe these books in like a three tiered cake. The bottom or foundation layer of the cake represents the true friendships of the women in this series. The humor and trust they bring to each other in good times and in bad. Your friends and family are the basis of any good life. The middle layer is Tori's budding romance with Milo and the relationship they have together and with his students, that is helping Tori heal from her past. The top layer of the cake is the library, the place Tori feels safe and at home. It is like the touchstone to many in the community, and they are supporting it and her and making it a place where some of her dreams are coming true. The icing on the cake is the murder, mystery and mayhem that touches everyone is this wonderful town of Sweet Briar. I know these books are classified as cozy mysteries and yes they have met all the requirements of that genre, but they are so much more. It's like a hybrid of Chick-Lit with Mystery too. These stories wrap two of my favorite things together, reading/libraries and sewing, and not just personal sewing, projects that reach out and make a difference. You most definitely do not need to be fan of sewing to enjoy these books, nor even a huge fan of mystery. This book to me is more about the friendships, the coming together, the willingness to accept each other whether you are a Yankee, a non-sewer, someone with a celebrity crush, 23 or 83, or just a plain old busybody. It is a story of friends supporting each other no matter what, even if it takes a little needle-ing to get it done.
