Children's LiteratureAhoy Mates! It is time to help Captain Silver solve some mazes that lead to buried treasure. In this child friendly book of colorful mazes, elementary school children must use their problem solving skills and motor skills to complete each maze. The mazes are varied, but all connected to the pirate theme. So there are mazes on ships, on land, under the sea, and in the jungle. Children will enjoy working their way through these mazes to help Captain Silver reach his gold coins. This reviewer's minor complaint is that the book is not in a binder format, which would make it easier for children to use. A binder format allows pages to lie flat while children are writing in them; this is especially handy when workbooks are taken on car trips. Nevertheless, this book, which contains over 20 maze adventures for children, should score high with young pirates in training. 2003 (orig. 2002), Sterling Publishing Company, Ages 7 to 10.
