*** EROTIC/CONTEMPORARY ***

"The woman was pure innocence compared to his twisted tastes. She was a sweet vanilla flower in a field of dead roses. And he was the disease that wanted to cripple the flower until its petals wilted."

Stephanie Drake, or Steph as she’s known to her friends, is lost. Somewhere between the end of her childhood, and the day her loser of a boyfriend called it quits on their so-called relationship, she forgot who she was. She lives each day in a perpetual routine, stuck in the confines of her normal, safe life. If she doesn’t take a risk, she won’t get hurt—right?
Then she meets Pete—or Pistol to his friends.
He’s blunt, arrogant, and straight forward about what he wants. And as it turns out, he wants her.
Should she take a walk on the wild side, risk being burnt, and lay her heart on the line? Something in the way he makes her feel tells her ‘yes’, but her friends aren’t so sure this emotionally shut-off man has a place in her life. Why should she listen to them, though? After all, they don’t know a thing about him ...
... do they?

Meet the Author

Author of Paranormal, and Contemporary Romance. I rediscovered my love of reading after never really having the time with working full-time, and two small children, and in doing so I realised I didn't just want to read the books - I wanted to write them. So I put fingers to keyboard and wrote. Then wrote some more. And before you know it, here I am now. I decided that at thirty it was high time to stop living a 'what if' life and give my dreams a chance. Lost deep in thought one day as I walked the kids in their buggy, I realised that I didn't want to be an old lady who sat and reflected on her life thinking 'what if I had tried?' I wanted to be an old lady who reflected on her life and thought 'At least I didn't leave a stone unturned.'

First of all can't stand the way Pete talks...really annoying & the female character is just pathetic. Don't bother with this book!

I loved this story, I'd immediately got drawn into the plot when I started. Steph had just been dumped by her nob head of a boyfriend so she goes out with her best friend to a bar and meets an unusual guy - Pete/Pistol- and he truly intrigues her. The thing is even though she sees him more and he gives her more pleasure than she's ever know, she wants more, she wants completion of their assignments, and she doesn't seem to know him any better than when she first met him. Pistol is a mystery. He likes his time with Steph but he has to have control. And he has a past that he wants to keep in the past and away from her. But he may have to open his heart and lose some of his tight control to keep Steph happy. Great tension and chemistry between these characters. I'm racing straight ahead to read book #2 to continue the story. 5/5

This book had me on the edge of my seat trying figure out how the relationship was gonna turn out and right when you think your gonna get as close to a happy ending for them theres another bombshell and you find out theres a second book. I dont know if I'll read the second book yet or not. But I really enjoyedd this one so I'm considering it. The books basically about a girl with a fairly good life splitting with her ex and go to a bar where she meets Pete. From there everything roles with ups and downs a lot. But anywho I really liked the book it kept me more entertained then some of the books I've read lately.

The word that comes to mind when I think of this book is interesting. It was good. It was worth reading. I did like it, BUT it was definitely more interesting in what happens and what the characters are thinking.  This book takes place in Australia, which I didn’t get for a bit. There are some words that are used differently than how they are used in the U.S., but I understood all of it. It wasn’t a big deal.  Pistol sounded darker than he actually was. I mean that in context of his work. There is a darker side of where he gets his money. There is a slight explanation for that at the end, but it didn’t feel in-depth enough to me. He mentions a guy several times in the book, but never references what exactly Pistol does with this guy or used to do. Personally I wanted more of an explanation on that front. I also wasn’t sure exactly how much power he does have at the club.  The heroine was probably my favorite part of this book. I loved that she had tattoos and dyed her hair. The heroine really had issues with identity in this book so it really was about her personal growth. She did a lot of it and I really enjoyed that aspect of the book.  Another good part of the book was certain scenes (****wink wink****).  I’m debating on reading the next one. I probably will just out of pure curiosity.  4/5
