Meet the Author

Melissa McDaniel is a photographer and founder of The Photo Book Projects, a series of photo books designed to raise awareness about issues affecting companion animals, especially those that are mistreated or misunderstood. The first book in the series, Deaf Dogs, was inspired by Melissa's own deaf dog Sadie. It won the IPPY award, as did her third book, Pit Bulls & Pit Bull Type Dogs. The final book in the series, Puppy-Mill Survivors, was released at the end of 2013. Melissa lives in Philadelphia.

This is a wonderful book! In addition to the beautiful photos and touching stories of the dogs (including the dogs rescued from the Michael Vick case), it includes facts and common myths about pit bulls.
