Overview

A realistic plan to combat diabetes, our greatest health crisis

For the millions of people living with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, or who are overweight and at risk but don’t know where to start, Plan D can provide life-changing results. Plan D breaks down the basics of the science of diabetes, explains how reversing your insulin resistance (the root cause of type 2 diabetes) is the key, and offers support, humor, and the action plan you need to get results. With this medically supported plan, Sherri was able to lose forty pounds and keep it off through three key simple but effective strategies that helped her fight the big D.

They are:

  • Change the way you eat in simple ways, eating a low-glycemic diet . . . but with a few indulgences along the way
  • Embrace exercise as part of your life, every day, and how to keep staying fit fun
  • Rethink your emotional connection to food

Sherri offers a way to lose weight and control diabetes without feeling deprived or chained to a strict, lifeless regimen. Plan D is flexible, sensible, and straightforward, and it works. If you’re ready to make a commitment to change, perhaps after years of battling excess weight and ignoring the warning signs, Sherri can show you how, with Plan D.

This book offers a well laid out plan for getting healthy when life gets in the way. I've read every diet book out there and finally one has come along that offers real life solutions for every day issues of losing weight and getting healthy. Thank you Sherri for sharing your experience and opening your heart to us. With this book I feel like I can get healthy before I get the big D.

As a diabetic, I have watched what I ate for the better part of my life. But, that didn't stop the pounds from packing on. What this book is offering me is hope on how to change all of that from somebody who has lived though it. With this book, which I can honestly say is very heart tugging, Sherri doesn't tell you just how to change you life, she helps you understand the why you should do it. Kudos!

Loved this book. easy to understand, very informative. She wrote in way that made me want to keep on reading. I learned about 5 years ago that i was diabetic and did nothing to follow the Dr directions...am only now learning that i need to do so, and learning step by step what i need to do. This book helped convince me that it is all in my hands.

I am learning a lot from this book about my responsibility in taking care of me. It has been a wake up call for me and I am finding it one of the tools I needed to get me on track.

The book wasn't bad. But her plan D was what diabetics have been told from day one. I thought I would read a different approach.

On The View this week Sherri looked amazing and even her husband stood up to show off his 40-lb weight loss. But they said it was thanks to following Rocco's Pound A Day plan. Plus Rocco delivered their food, not a bad perk either. Maybe its the same plan. I just want to know because it obviously worked and even Whoopi is trying it.

While I love Sherri Shepherd, I found this book to be useless in my new struggles with diabetes. It did not contain any helpful info for me, mostly history of her and her family's history.

Good common sense approach! Sometimes I could tell what Sherri wrote and what the co-author wrote, but none the less, it has been an interesting book so far.
