Children's Literature
This volume in the "The Blackbirch Press Visual Encyclopedia" series offers information to young readers in an attractive and fact-filled format that features eye-popping color illustrations, charts, diagrams and maps. The book opens with a table of contents that is divided into four segments: earth, landscapes, atmospheres and earth history. Some difficult concepts such as magnetic earth, the origins of the earth and plate tectonics are expertly explained to young readers. The text and illustrations on the page are presented neatly within a colorful single-line border. A section on dinosaurs and their extinction is sure to be a hit with dinosaur lovers. Glaciers, deserts, rivers and their effects on the world are also revealed. A look into the future offers food for thought for young researchers on topics such as the greenhouse effect, space exploration and extinction. Also discussed is how people can make a difference in the future by how they choose to live today. This volume is an excellent resource for home or school libraries. Endnotes include a glossary and index. 2002, Blackbirch Press/The Gale Group,
