With over 200 photographs, drawings, storyboards, and the complete screenplay, a magnificent visual book on Twentieth Century Fox's Planet of the Apes, as reimagined by visionary director Tim Burton (Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Batman). Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
The original Planet of the Apes was weird enough now, as "reimagined" by Tim Burton in a new movie, it promises even more oddness. Planet of the Apes: A Newmarket Pictorial Moviebook Including the Screenplay features Burton's screenplay, an introduction by the filmmaker, pictures from the set and the film and quotes from the cast. Excellent photographs, detailed sketches and drawings both from the movie and behind the scenes provide extensive information, each page grabbing the reader's attention with entertaining visuals. VOYA
For students who were enthralled by the stunning visual effects, costume design, and makeup in the most recent Planet of the Apes movie while overlooking the dismal plot, this pictorial movie book will be a winner. With an introduction by Tim Burton and star biographies, the book features chapters on preparing the script and on creating the ape-dominated world in which a human astronaut lands to find humans completely subjugated. The film was shot in three distinct locations—Hawaii, Utah, and the Mohave Desert—to create a landscape of visual contrasts that would seem alien. Casting the film and creating evolved-looking ape characters who could act believably through their heavy makeup was a challenge. Costume making, building the ape city, and staging a major battle also involved great difficulties. Real fans will love all this material, but the true strength of the book is the many terrific color illustrations and photographs. All but the very ending of the film script also is included. The final scenes were being kept secret as the book went to press. Subsequent editions of the book, if any, will have the whole screenplay. An excellent browsing book for those who enjoyed the movie and want more, it might pique the interest of others. Illus. Photos.
