Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 2-5Beginning readers with a passion for weird words, stupid jokes, and odd behavior will find happiness in this light and lively addition to the series. Disaster strikes when Blork's space ship is ``sucked through a Hyperspatial Transdimensional Whoopee Warp'' to the restricted planet of the Dips. Dips are a carefree, rather dumb alien group (all of whom wear propeller caps that allow them to fly) and they immediately decide Blork's dog Lunk is their Lost Lord of Silliness. To save his dog, Blork must conquer his temper and fight a goofy battle with a gang of Dips. With his crew intact, he blasts off the planet of the Dips and, one assumes, into another silly adventure. Literary junk food, this will be very appealing to fans of unrestrained humor. Coville's popularity has been well proven and this series brings younger readers into his wacky orbit. Katherine Coville's pencil illustrations are plentiful and capture the spirit of the tale.Anne Connor, Los Angeles Public Library

It is all Space Brat Blork, hero of the author's popular Space Brat series, can do to contain his infamous temper when the spaceship he captains goes into a Whoopee Warp that draws it 14 squintillion miles off track to the planet of the Dips. The happy-go-lucky inhabitants of this planet float about cheerily by means of a small propeller atop their beanies. The Dips welcome their alien visitors; in fact, they are convinced that Blork's doglike pet, Lunk, is their long-lost Lord of Silliness, and they refuse to let him leave their planet. It is then, when faced with losing his beloved Lunk, that Blork blows his temper. From the chaos that ensues, Blork realizes that reasoning out a plan to keep Lunk will gain better results than will his uncontrolled emotions. Hidden amid wacky characters and bizarre situations, this moral may go unnoticed as readers relish the latest installment from Coville's fantastic imagination.

Space Brat is better than anything- even the bible

I first stumbled upon space brat when i was 43 years old. Most people thought i was insane reading a book that was obviously targeted for nerdy young children. I told them go to hell. These books rule and they relate to what i go through in real life. It's a real winner.
