Editorial Reviews

Jean-Francois Bedard
This is the third edition of a book on crowns and bridges first published in 1986. The purpose is to help students and dentists with initial decision making and mouth preparation, and to provide some guidance in performing clinical procedures. According to the author, it is written for students and dentists. It should, however, be reserved for clinicians. Undergraduate or even graduate students should know the fundamentals of fixed prosthodontics before being influenced by this book. Unfortunately, photographs are of less than average quality. The references are outdated. Most of the techniques and materials presented are outdated. In today's practices, where the emphasis is on minimalist, unrealistic, and esthetic approaches, this text has little room to grow.
