Overview

No connections. Play it safe. These were the rules Ivey lived her life by.

Until she hit Mustang, Colorado, a perfectly imperfect town where the citizens were welcoming and one of them included the tall, beautiful, macho man rancher cowboy, Grayson Cody.

On the run for a decade, Ivey knew she was supposed to play it safe. But she was tired of being on the run. She wanted a normal. She wanted real. She wanted a home.

And she wanted Grayson Cody.

And Grayson Cody wanted Ivey.

No one who looked at them couldn’t see they belonged together. There was one man in this world for Ivey and one woman in this world for Grayson Cody.

So they fell in love.

But just as quickly as they fell together, they were betrayed and torn apart. Separated for years, Ivey was certain her life would not include her rancher cowboy. Until the town of Mustang reached out to her when Gray was in trouble. Even though she thought he broke her heart, she charged in to help. Then Gray and Ivey discovered they were betrayed and, not only that, Gray had an enemy who would stop at nothing to defeat him.

Meet the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

    Love

Another hit by Kristen Ashley ! She totally deserves to be a best seller! Loved Gray and Ivie! My heart was broken and healed. If you are a big fan you will notice Gray has a picture in his bedroom from a famous photographer from her other series. Love that it takes place in my home state of Colorado!
I kept hoping Joe/Cal from the Burg series would show up to put in security system via Ivie's fake Las Vegas boyfriend...oh well.

The overall plot of the book is okay but I did not finish the reading because I hated the female lead's choices throughout the storyline. The young love presented was hard to swallow... too cliche.

Second Favorite of K. Ashley's. I danced around buying this book since discovering Ms. Ashley earlier this year. I thought by the description of the book it would be just one giant cliche. Granted, based on other books I've read by this author that was a pretty stupid of me to think. Ivey's voice was extremely strong in this book and there were times in the extremely emotional parts you could hear and "see" her strength. Throughout the entire book there was an almost underlining sense of humor and acceptance of what's going on but knowing it's worth it because there's a love strong enough to pull her through. The only thing I didn't care for was how the ending played out for the "villain". However, Ashley made up for this by focusing at lot on Gray and Ivey. I'm pretty sure their love story is my new favorite from this amazing author

Kristen may not be the most eloquent writer I have read, she has a unique way of bringing her characters to life with every word she writes till it feels like you are in the hero and/or heroine’s head and you just need to buckle up and enjoy the ride.~ Under the Covers

Ivey has lived her life by one golden rule: Play if safe. This means her life on the road involves no ties or connections, just her and her older brother drifting from one town to another making cash, not entirely legally, before they have to move on. But when Ivey hits the town of Mustang, she knows she doesn’t want to leave, especially when she meets Grayson Cody, a rancher/cowboy who lives in there. But the road to their happily ever after is fraught with separations, heartbreak and betrayal, will they ever make it?

Kristen Ashley has done it again, another book which I couldn’t unglue my eyes from; there is some magic laced in with her words which entices you to read on and on until you hit the final page and are still left wanting more. Although Kristen may not be the most eloquent writer I have read, she has a unique way of bringing her characters to life with every word she writes till it feels like you are in the hero and/or heroine’s head and you just need to buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I enjoyed every word of Play it Safe, Ivey and Gray were a great couple and you could feel their connection right from the start and although this didn’t quite have the emotional punch that some of her other books has it still have some beautiful moments. What was also fabulous was the cast of secondary characters, as this book (as all Kristen Ashley books are!) was long it gave plenty of time for it to shape up a great cast of background characters who all added to the story.

If you like Kristen Ashley’s books you are guaranteed to love this, it has her signature style, with her sexy alpha male and the sweet sassy female who captures his heart. If you haven’t read her and are after a sweet romance with plenty of steamy love scenes then I recommend you give this book a try!

    Tugs at your heartstrings!
Grayson is a major alpha hottie cowboy! Even if cowboys are not your thing, you can't help but fall in love with him. Ivey has had a rough life, with no place to call home. Her miserable brother makes you want to scream. When Ivey and Grayson meet, all you can do is cheer them on. I loved how Grayson was able to help Ivey in the beginning, and then she comes back in his time of need.
