Overview

Billionaire Liam Manning has been too busy building his internet security empire to care about romance. So when a death-bed promise to his brother forces him to prove he can properly seduce a woman, Liam relies on his strengths. Hacking into an online dating site to find a suitable "love tutor" is as easy as it is logical.

All Lorelei Torres wants is a family and an honest man to love. After falling for one-too-many Mr. Wrongs, Lorelei's mother signs her up for an online dating site. Maybe it's time to let an impartial computer chose a man for her—especially if that computer plans to match her with sexy men like Liam.

But Liam's made a critical error. Lorelei has breached the firewall around his heart, and if he falls for her, he'll have to reveal his real identity—and his deception—to the only woman who's ever made him question why love isn't on his to-do list.

Well written and entertaining.  She had me from page one...her characters are easy to relate to because she makes you laugh at  some things and slap some other characters.  It's a very good read!!!

This review took me a little while to figure out what to say. I really loved both characters, just not together at first. Liam is looking for a relationship for the very wrong reasons - basically just to see what it was like. Liam has trust and family issues and I can understand his reluctance to enter into a serious relationship, but I wish we had seen a little more of how deep his issues went a little earlier - it would have helped me like him better early on in the story.  Lorelei just comes off as a little desperate. Following her mother's dictates and dating even when she doesn't really want to. While she is somewhat open to the idea of dating (eventually) and she does want a family, I just didn't see what she saw in Liam at the first.  About half way through they start to get a little more honest with each other, but not honest enough - there is still a lot that they are hiding. There are a few side characters that helped to push things along and I really enjoyed them. They ended up being pivotal in some unexpected ways. Overall, I think the story was alright, I just wanted a little more from it.  *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

Liam Manning may be wealthy beyond belief but he has never found love and happiness in a relationship. He promises his dying brother that he will finish his novel. In order to do this he needs to go out of his comfort zone and have a romance with a woman who is not after his wealth. He changes his identity and arranges to meets Lorelei Torres. As fate would have it, he has found the perfect woman. Will his lies doom and chance they have of a relationship? This story is so romantic. The characters are unforgettable and the dialogue helps bring them to life. The plot is solid and shows us the secrets and desires of Liam Manning as he learns what love is. Lorelei Torres is honorable and caring. I liked her. Her goodness and honesty were refreshing. Alexia Adams is an very good author. She did an excellent job writing Played by the Billionaire. I was hooked from the first page.

This is the story of billionaire, William (Liam) Mackenzie Manning and charity event planner, Lorelei Torres. He made a promise to his dying brother to finish the mystery romance novel his brother started but could not finish. Liam had no experience with love or romance. He needs to do research and he finds he wants to do that with Lorelei Torres. A woman he spotted in a dating website. Will he be able to date her and keep his hands off? Will this sweet young woman with a penchant for honesty and lawful behavior, be his downfall? There was lots of deception, ulterior motives, slightly illegal "cracking", and some totally unexpected interruptions during this story. I completely enjoyed reading this fast and funny romance. I love watching a man fight the fall so hard that he falls even harder. The surprise at the end was BRILLIANT! I would have liked to meet some of Lorelei's family. Her mother was fabulous! I would definitely read more from this most entertaining author. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Well-done interfering family members are the greatest, even if they don't get much (or any) actual screen time. That was certainly the case in Played, and what makes it even better is that there was interference from both families, not just the hero or the heroine's. Liam - hehehe. He knows nothing about romance/love and knows he knows nothing. Determined to finish his now-dead brother's unfinished romance novel (a death-bed promise), he falls back on the skills he does have. I found it amusing the lengths he went to (derailing an intended date, hacking multiple websites, etc.). It's adorable, and strangely enough, I actually didn't find anything he did to be weirdly creepy or anything like that. Lorelei. Oh, man, did she get dealt a heavy load. Her mother. OMG, her mother was hilarious. Not just signing Lorelei up for a dating service online, but the threats to come out and help Lorelei get a man?! I adored Mama. This was a great book from start to finish. I didn't have any problem with Liam's lie to Lorelei, nor his problem actually 'fessing up to the truth. Normally I do, but Ms. Adams played the story out so well, I never disliked the set-up at all. And when Liam has to grovel (let's face it, I love seeing men grovel) to make up for his lies...I totally fell in love with him (assuming I hadn't already). He really goes above and beyond, and I'd absolutely forgive him if he did something like that. That's not to say Liam didn't deserve to be tossed on his butt for lying the way he did - he definitely did deserve to suffer. But I also admired him for finding a way to make it up to her. Five gargoyles and I look forward to reading more in this series. Book provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
