This book is not believeable that two kids live alone with no adult and one gets asked to be on a major league team but other than that it is good

Around 200 pages. Just wish the characters were old enough to be a tiny bit believable. Ignore that and it's an ok read, especially for free. **

This book was extreme fairy tale. From the idea of a 13 year old being asked to join a major league team ( in the middle of a playoff game no less ) to the idea that 2 kids could pull the wool over the eyes of many adults and live on their own. Through out the book I expected to reach a point in the story where Devin wakes from out of a dream, never did though. The typos also made it difficult to understand what ever point the character was making. I guess I got what I paid for..... the book was free.

I am not a baseball fan. However, you don't have to be to like a good feel good story. Two brothers who will stay together through everything . You admire their courage . A nice wholesome , feel good story.

Although this wasn't the worst book I ever read, definitely wasn't one of my favorites either. The overall idea of the story was good, but many the characters and events of the book are very unbelievable or not likely to happen it real life, and that ruined it for me.

This is a great Baseball story aimed at young adults. It is a story about loss and triumph. It is story about a teenage boy and his younger brother who never gave up. What they achieved was beyond their wildest dreams, but only because they worked hard to make it happen.
There were many parts of the book that stuck with me, and I've looked one up. It is the teenager, Devin, speaking to an audience and relating his father's advice about growing up. He says, "You become a man when your mind moves away from a childish outlook on life, when you prove to yourself that you control your own destiny, and when you show respect not only for others but for yourself and the person that you are. You are a man when you not only dream but take steps to fulfill your dreams."
This a great book for anyone who knows even the basics of baseball and for anyone who wants to see how dedication, perseverance and courage can change a life.
I did notice a handful of minor editing errors, but that certainly did not at all take away from the story. A previous review at B&N called this book inspiring. I totally agree. This author has done some seriously good writing, and I really enjoyed this book.
This author appears to write primarily for young adults, and I am eager to check out some of his other books.

This story was a pretty decent and very easy read. It's something I got through in about 2.5 hours. The basis of the story is pretty good, but I just couldn't get over the choppy writing style and complete lack of editing. I am very reluctant to bring small issues up, but this goes beyond a few misspelled words. I would definitely suggest this for a younger reader and would only really pick it up as long as it's a free nookbook.
