Overview

How do you know…
For beautiful novelist Dylan Ivory, being in control is everything. Then she meets the man who is everything she is not…and everything she wants.
How far you can go…
Alec Walker is a writer of dark psychological thrillers—and a man who lives for thrills. From motorcycles to snowboards to swimming with sharks, there's no end to his lust for excitement. His tastes extend into the bedroom as well, where he lets no rules bind his desires. The only thing he truly fears is love, and allowing someone else to really know him…
Unless you go over the edge?
While researching a book on sexual extremes, Dylan interviews Alec—and longs to taste the temptation he offers. But he’s a self-proclaimed dominant and she refuses to surrender control. Slowly and seductively, though, Alec shows her that by letting go and submitting to his every desire she can experience ultimate pleasure. But to keep the woman who for the first time brings him to his knees, can Alec take the ultimate risk and surrender his heart?

    Not worth the price.

This book is only 182 pages and I think very overpriced for the content. The story is good, but I would not have bought if I knew just how short the book was.

    The Romance Reviews Top Picks

Amazing. Eve Berlin is now officially on my must read list.

If you read BDSM, pick this one up. If you are curious about the genre, this is a great place to start. If you take your contemporary romance with a lot of steam, you are going to love me for pointing you in the right direction. Pleasure's Edge is a fast-paced, sensual spicy ride with complex characters that are a joy to get to know.

It's tough to squeeze five stars out of me. To me, a five star book is one you will think about long after it is over, and you will want to re-read again and again. Pleasure's Edge was that kind of pleasure.

Erotic romance author Dylan Ivory is a woman in control. After growing up in a dysfunctional household, raising her younger brother and subsequently losing him, control is how she stays sane. While researching her new BDSM book, she is encouraged to interview experienced Dominant, Alec Walker. Alec, a writer of dark physiological thrillers, lives on the edge and he is more than willing to give Dylan a real life glimpse of the lifestyle. But when the two meet, control begins to crumble.

To be honest, Dylan's research with Alec into BDSM really just sits as a backdrop to their developing relationship. Yes, they visit a BDSM club and yes, spankings are pretty standard when the two get together, but the BDSM stays on the light side, making it very palatable for those who only dip a toe into the genre. The heat comes from the carefully woven scenes between the two. The tension and lust were melting my Kindle. These two are hot for each other like they've never been before, and it is amazing the sheets don't catch on fire.

Pleasure's Edge was a masterpiece of character development. Both Dylan and Alec keep lovers at a distance. They don't do relationships. Hot sex, yes. Frequently and without guilt. But there has never been any compulsion to attempt a relationship, until now. I loved how Ms Berlin used the character's self reflection throughout the story to help me climb into the skin of each of them. They are both genuinely confused as they experience new emotions in these uncharted waters. The way they hold part of themselves back, hold their secrets tight, is so realistic and left me wondering at the mystery of what shaped them to be as closed off emotionally as they were. It was a thrill discovering who these two were and what they would become together.

I give Pleasure's Edge two big thumbs up for anyone who enjoys character driven romances with scalding hot sex scenes and enough tension to drive nails into wood. It is an absolutely satisfying ride. Enjoy!

Holy basket of vibrators, Batman! Eve Berlin's Pleasure's Edge

Holy basket of vibrators, Batman! Eve Berlin's Pleasure's Edge is some Seriously Sizzling Sex, but it's also a beautiful romance.

Dylan's an erotica writer, challenged to research the world of D/s (Domination and submission) for her next book. She meets Alec, a vibrant, powerful Dom, who thinks it's more effective to show rather than tell. Dylan has been firmly in control for years, having grown up with a bi-polar mother who was frequently incapacitated by her illness, and having taken responsibility for her younger brother.

Alec is a world traveler and thrill seeker. He's modeled himself after his brilliant but emotionally reserved father, and Alec enjoys sex, and being a 'top.' But no woman has ever gotten under his skin, the way Dylan has.

I loved this book. Loved loved loved. It is so hot, from beginning to end, that I was seriously contemplating putting on my Ove-Gloves to turn the pages. I loved the romantic and erotic connection between Dylan and Alec. I loved the way Berlin took us deep within the psyches of the characters, exploring how the D/s game opened them up emotionally. I loved the skillful and unquestioning use of condoms every time. Loved that they fell in love, despite the barriers they both had erected against such a thing.

My only quibbles, and they're more with me than the book, is the names. Alec I kept wanting to change in my head to the softer, (IMO) sexier Alex. Dylan - I don't know any female Dylans, but I do know a few, very attractive young men named Dylan, or Dillon. This made me mentally stumble a bit. I would advise writers to think twice about that kind of choice. My name can be used for men or women, in theory, but if a character was named Beverly, wouldn't you think 99 times out of 100 he was female?

My other quibble is that both characters were much into 'sensation play' with an emphasis on spanking. I personally find spanking more of a turn-off than erotic; but the scenes were so hot I got past it.

I will definitely be increasing my library of Eve Berlin books, and highly recommend this book. [Suddenly, I'm quite thirsty.]

Sexy and Sensual...a great start to a new series!

If you've never read a BDSM book before and you want to, then this is the book for you. It is almost a tutorial of the BDSM scene but also a romance story as well. You won't be cringing and holding your breath in pain while reading this, like I have in the past. This book is a very enjoyable read and you won't be able to put it down.

For me, there's nothing more sensual than a man softly caressing a woman's body. And boy oh boy does Alec know what he's doing!

I was exceptionally surprised by this book. I'm not one to read BDSM novels, in fact, I very rarely do. The cover of this book caught my attention though and I was curious to find out more....and I'm so glad I did! Isn't the cover of this book very rousing to look at? It may sound crazy when I say this, but you can feel the chemistry and sensuality flowing from the cover. I'm so glad I bought it in paperback!

I actually found out a friend had read and enjoyed this book very much. She highly recommended it to me saying that it's not like all the other BDSM novels and to give it a try. And she was 110% right. This is definitely in a league of it's own and nothing like the others in this genre. I'm very hesitant when it comes to BDSM reads simply because I don't really understand it all. The whole idea of being beaten into orgasm isn't all that enticing to me, or the whole roughness that is associated with it, but honestly, this author makes you almost want to....almost. What's so great about this book is that explains the lifestyle of BDSM. It's not really a lifestyle though, it's more of a sexuality choice and there is nothing wrong with this kind of love making. Although it's not for me, I did find it to be very intriguing and could not stop reading it.

    ***SPOILER***
Dylan, an erotic romance author, is looking for help with her next book. She is not very familiar with the BDSM scene and is told about a known Dom in the area that can help her named Alec. As she's questioning him for her book, Alec makes her an offer. He tells her the only way to truly understand it all is to experience it. Alec wants her to submit to him. Dylan, being open about her sexuality, accepts but only if she can dominate Alec, insisting that she is a dom and not a submissive. After challenging each other, Dylan and Alec come to an agreement. If Dylan can not prove to be submissive, then she can dominate Alec. Little does Dylan know, after being with Alec once, her life will change irrevocably. She will find herself freed in more ways than one.
    ***SPOILER ENDS***

I think this book is probably very sentimental to the author. There were a few times while reading this that I thought Dylan was actually Eve/Eden, but obviously written and changed into a fictional story. I could be wrong, but it's just a feeling I had. There were some striking similarities throughout the entire story with Dylan and Eve/Eden. I enjoyed this book very much and the authors writing style. I will be getting the next book, Desire's Edge very soon and more books by her as well.

    I Also Recommend:

    Impulse purchase-not disappointed

Eve Berlin spins a fantasic tale of romance, power struggles, BDSM and submitting to your ultimate desires. Alec, your tall brooding dom is taken by surprise when he meets Dylan and realizes how she is stripping him of his well managed control. Dylan, the ultimate control freak, prides herself in that she has closed herself off from her emotions, not wanting to get close to anyone, certainly never close enough to let lvoe in. Losing her brother and having an umpredictable and emotional basket case of a mother, her heart is cold and she keeps to herself and her writing, only having one good friend to lean on. Once these two let down their guard its fireworks! WOW! Eve writes a very erotic yet tasteful story of dominance and submission. You can feel the romance building, you find yourself rooting for Alec & Dylan to let themselves realize that their mutual attraction goes beyond the bedroom. The only thing is, I wanted to see Dylan be a little tougher. It seems as though she sumbmitted a little too easy. I think she should have given Alec a harder time when he took her to the club for the first time. Even though he wasn't by any means rough on her, she gave in too quickly. I think it would have been a little more interesting and fun to see Alec try to "bottom" her with more struggle. Other than that, great story, I high recommend this book. Great romance, classy story, very character centered and hot hot hot!!!

Eve Berlin provides a wonderful well written BDSM romance

Erotica author Dylan Ivory plans on a BDSM theme for her next novel. To obtain insider information, Dylan begins research on the subject. This leads to her meeting psychological thriller author Alec Walker who lives just like the daredevil stars of his novels.

They are attracted to each other, but she has always kept a tight control over her emotions and any relationships. He wants to take her mountain climbing but she is afraid her independence would die as she would need to rely on him. Alec also wants to teach her first hand the world of BDSM as the dom to her sub. She wants to accept but her fears of losing control keep her from the ecstasy he offers her; while his fear of commitment keeps him from admitting they are yin and yang in and out of bed.

Eve Berlin provides a wonderful well written BDSM romance in which the sex is hotter than the summer in the city of Miami. The superb story line is driven by the lead control freaks whose need to be in charge is radically different. Although her bone marrow screams sub Dylan feels safer in control while Alec's DNA is imprinted with dom. Fans will enjoy this erotic contemporary as each of the leads and grateful fans are driven beyond Pleasure's Edge.
